It is good that you are looking for answers, and not just believing because people tell you it is true...
The fact that you are here and asking shows that you have some desire to believe.. that there is something in you that is drawn to the idea of God.
I was an atheist for a long time.. but something in me always felt there was a missing part, that there had to be 'more' somehow. As a scientist, I didn't like the concept of God, didn't think that I needed anything that couldn't be proved.
And yet, there was always that emptiness. That eventually led me to read and explore the concept of God. I read a lot about different religions, but Christianity was the only one that really seemed to resonate with the need in my heart/soul. I didn't 'want' it to be true, intellectually.. and yet it was.
And it remains so. I have been through some hard times, I have felt a long way from God, I have wandered off into my own thing and not done what He wanted, but every time, He has been there, He has brought me back and helped me to grow and to keep on.

It isn't something which can be explained 'rationally' or proved empirically, I can't show you concrete evidence, and yet God is more real than anything else in my life, and I know that He is there.

The atheistic explanations may be more logical, but they don't fill the hole at the centre of the human heart.

(And by the way, welcome to CF:))

im very unsure / uncertain wether to or not to believe in God

why should I?

dont flame me for this but I find the atheistic explanations / way of life more logic than the christian...

I need help on this so please reply soon
Walk down to the best local church, see what they are doing, hang around for a couple of weeks - ideally over Easter. Chat to people. If you don't find yourself wanting to find out more then fair enough.

I think Criada has given you much to think about.

I am curious about what got you to this crossroad? Who or what circumstances were most influential to get you to this point in your life?

Sincerely,

Well, God can do all kinds of amazing stuff for you. I'm talking help with whatever you're struggling with, encouragement, strength, protection - all good stuff. And it's easy to become a believer, because when you accept Jesus as your saviour, and announce it to Him out loud, you receive faith as well. Have a squizz at Acts 2:21. It's as simple as that, no strings attached. No ifs, no buts, nada. :)

The man's right. There are plenty of answers. The best way to determine the right ones for you, is to ask yourself "Self, where's the love in these answers?". God is about love, and the best answers are the ones that help you feel that love. :)

Why should you believe in God, I believe in God because of what he has done in my life, experiences. I will share with you one example of God being directly involved in leading me.

One morning I got up and walked into the hall, and I heard a voice say, "How would you like to be stabbed in the valley. I did not like the idea of that at all it made me a bit frightened as I was planning to head down to the valley that day to ask people out to church. I decided to put the fear behind me and go any way. I walked up to the first person I saw and asked him if he would like to go out to church. He said "No I am an athiest, I don't believe in God". I just said "fine", but hoped to change his mind. A few minutes latter the guy started to unbutton his shirt, and he showed me scar marks up and down his chest, and stomach. He said to me "Here is why I don't believe in God, I was attacked by a knife welding man in the valley some years ago and spent months recovering in hospital". Then I knew why God had asked "How would I like it" he knew the man, and he knew why he did not like God. Latter on I shared with him how God had spoken to me in the morning, and told him God loved him. Some weeks latter the same man came out to church and was saved.

Why do I believe in the christian God, because he is real and has real communication with us.

Gal 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

Hi  Welcome to CF :)

When you say you find atheistic explanations/way of life more logical, can I ask you to explain that a little? Are you referring specifically to evolution/creationism? Or do you mean you don't think belief in God, period, is logical?

thanks for the welcome =)

but to be quite honest, I dont really feel that "hole" in my heart when looking at a world without God.

I tend to look at things the more scientifical way, and as there is no concrete evidence... well, im not sure wether not or wether to believe in a higher power. I mean, ive never really felt the need for some kind of God,
I live my life by my own "rules"

and also, ive thought about this alot, but wouldnt the world be a much better place without religion?
lots of disputes and wars are based on religion, it has made lots of people's life quite miserable..

well, ive been thinking and reading alot lately.
saw some video's on youtube wich got me thinking...

at first I was "christian", but not a fanatic one. ive been raised christian, got baptised and all but never really thought about my religion or "interracted with it", all I ever did was visit church like once a month

but now, well im just not sure anymore... the atheist way of thinking seems very logical and attractive to me but yea... I dont know what to believe...

well, if God even exists, that is... and thats what im struggling with

and id say that religion has caused more bad than good... look at all the wars, disputes and problems that we have occured due to religion

and if I would believe in a higher power, it wouldnt be in the bible or jesus for sure. i just dont think that Jesus really existed, and the bible is a book wich isnt written by the God himself..

so you're saying that if I feel good with the answers atheism provides and if that makes me feel "love" I should follow that and be an atheist?

that is, indeed, some story..

but I dont think I can believe something like that as long as God hasnt communicated with me

well, imo, religion hasnt done many good things... mostly bad things

I mean, if we could just forget it, wouldnt life but much easier?
easier as in a logical explanation for everything? wich doesnt involve a supernatural power?

well, as english isnt my primary language this might be a bit sloppy but I'll try...

I believe in the evolution theory, yes. it has been proven several times and the evidence is just so clear... it makes much more sense to me than God who just said poof and there the earth was.
I find it hard to believe in christianity as there are so many things that contradict it.. f.e. the bible states that the earth only is about 6000years old. thats just ridiculous if you ask me

some other things in the bible dont make sense at all.. like Noah who gathered 2 out of every specy and put them on a boat? how did he move for example, whales? and all the little germs/microscopical creatures?
concerning the flood aswel, there is no proof for this...

Jesus walking over water? turning water into wine? flaming godly bushes?

im sorry, but I just cant believe all of this... it seems way to fake

That may not be a bad thing if you can find the right, dynamic, congregation that really is living the gospel, not just talking about it (or complaining about it's antithesis, which is where a lot of churches can end up).

mostly old people
You might have to look around a bit.

Christianity isn't an individualistic thing. You can't properly be part of the people of God apart from other people of God.
