  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

jesus never spoke of world peace as you can see from my quote he specifically said he did not come for that

he spoke of peace within the CHURCH and peace we could attain through the holy spirit and a holy life

but that peace transcends physical reality given that christians are almost guaranteed to suffer here

Does Jesus want us all to be in His Body (church)?
Does Jesus want all those in His body to be united as One as He and His father are One?
Does Jesus want us to be charitable to one another (1 Cor 13)?

I think the answer is Yes to all these and that should make it plain to all that Jesus wants Peace in the world as well.

In fact, it was even acceptable to venerate religious objects by bowing towards them:
Leviticus 19:30 You shall venerate my sanctuary: I am the LORD.
The Hebrew word for reverence is 03372 ary yare' yaw-ray', and 99.1% of the time it is translated as fear, fearing, fearful, feared, terrible, dreadful, and terrible acts. Less than 1% its translated as reverence. Based on what we know of the OT sanctuary the word "fear" seems more appropriate. The word reverence would be too mild of a word to describe the sanctuary under the OT.
The sanctuary was the place where God had chosen to dwell among His people Israel.

Ex 25:8 And let them make me a sanctuary; that I may dwell among them.

Pr 9:10 The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom: and the knowledge of the holy is understanding.

Only the high priest could enter the sanctuary under certain conditions and be expected to come out alive. If he violated those conditions he would be struck dead. They would sew bells on the hem of the high priests robe and tie a rope around his leg before going into the Holy of Holies. If the sound of the bells stopped for any length of time they knew the high priest was dead and they would pull him out by the rope.

Even if one uses the word reverence instead of fear, the sanctuary was still the place where the presence of God dwelt and anyone not authorized to enter would be struck dead. So the command by God to "fear my sanctuary" was made because of His presence. There was no command given to worship His sanctuary but God who dwelt in the sanctuary.

Psalm 138:2 I bow down toward thy holy temple...
Ps 138:2 I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Here's another example of wrongly dividing the word of truth. David is stating he's worshiping towards the temple because God dwells there. David is not saying he is worshiping the temple. You are twisting the scriptures to validate bowing down to objects and people which God clearly forbids.

It was also acceptable to make self-expression with religious objects, such as the Jordan altar (Joshua 22:9-34), or a procession:
Another interesting twist of words. So now we see that bowing down to religious objects is an acceptable form of self-expression because you say so. I would prefer that you know how to rightly divide the Word of Truth.

2Samuel 6:
11 And the ark of the LORD remained in the house of Obededom the Gittite three months; and the LORD blessed Obededom and all his household.
12 And it was told King David, "The LORD has blessed the household of Obededom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God." So David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obededom to the city of David with rejoicing;
13 and when those who bore the ark of the LORD had gone six paces, he sacrificed an ox and a fatling.
14 And David danced before the LORD with all his might; and David was girded with a linen ephod [religious garb].
15 So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the LORD with shouting, and with the sound of the horn.

This passage clearly shows that David was worshiping the Lord who dwelt in the ark of the covenant and not the ark itself. Can you not see that it states David is dancing before the Lord? You seem to forget or not understand or not see that God has commanded that He is the only one to be worshiped (bowing down to) and not objects which are made with man's hands or people.

Jesus brought peace but I don't recall Him speaking about world peace, that is all I was saying...

He never spoke directly of Sola Scriptura either yet you hold firm to this modern thinking.

As I stated... read 1 Corinthains 13, what else can it mean but Peace to all?

4 Charity is patient, is kind: charity envieth not, dealeth not perversely, is not puffed up, 5 Is not ambitious, seeketh not her own, is not provoked to anger, thinketh no evil: 6 Rejoiceth not in iniquity, but rejoiceth with the truth: 7 Beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
8 Charity never falleth away: whether prophecies shall be made void or tongues shall cease or knowledge shall be destroyed. 9 For we know in part: and we prophesy in part. 10 But when that which is perfect is come, that which is in part shall be done away. 11 When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child. But, when I became a man, I put away the things of a child. 12 We see now through a glass in a dark manner: but then face to face. Now I know in part: but then I shall know even as I am known. 13 And now there remain faith, hope, and charity, these three: but the greatest of these is charity.

Your misunderstanding me, I simply said Christ himself did NOT preach world peace. Christ brought peace and through Him we have peace and we are to be a peaceful people...But NEVER did He speak or preach of WORLD peace, as far as I know anyway.
