  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, David and Jonathan certainly are mentioned in the bible.
But be that as it may - computers are not mentioned in the bible.
You are certainly making use of one now. Since it is not condoned, are you going to hell?
As I said before, computers were not invented yet. Homosexual sex did exist, and was condemned.

Romans 1:24-28

"Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done."

The bible does not condemn it.

If it was okay to be homosexual with ONE person, it would say so. It doesn't say that anywhere in the Bible that being gay is okay if you're only gay with one person. And I am not your darlin' so don't talk down to me with terms like that. I find it patronizing.
It does not say that being heterosexual with a few hundred people is good but that does not mean it is bad or against the law. I have married friends that have weekly group sex and it is ok for them to do.

Not according to the Bible.

No it was not.
You have failed to read in context.
And it's getting old.
The context is that men were having sex with men and God did not condone it. He calls it a sin.

Romans 1:24-28

That is not the context, and you know it.

Your intellectual dishonesty does not speak well of your Christianity.

Electricity was not discovered at that time. Homosexual behavior did occur, and was condemned.
But the behavior happened in a far different context then, our society is different in many ways from Roman society back then.

Jesus told us to love our neighbors as we love ourselves. I do not see any loving action in deny rights to homosexuals, or (for that matter) in condemning homosexuality.

Have you never met a loving same sex couple? I know and have known many couples, and many of them have the exact same sort of true romantic love that I feel for my husband.

The loving God that I know, that I have experienced could not condemn the love that two humans feel for one another. And, frankly, even if I did agree with your interpretation of Paul (which I do not) I feel that reality (as I experience it) disagrees with that interpretation.

Wow thanks for angellica clearing up for me that Christianity over the years has condemned homosexuality. I mean I didn't know that. :)
Actually, God condemned it so it follows that Christianity would condemn it.

I refuse to reject that part of the Bible just because of pity for a gay couple.

The God of the Old Testament also condemned shellfish - but Christianity does not (generally).

And yet no one has proven that god exists or that the bible is his/hers/its word, it is more likely a tool used by ancient scribes to control the masses.

Ahh, the familiar shellfish talking point. That was for tribes in the OT regarding ceremonial laws and tribal laws, not so with homosexuality.
