I know there are two kinds of relationships: Those where bodily functions are not allowed, and those where the couple don't mind it.

I've seen some couples that are totally relaxed when it comes to this. They fart and laugh, and burp loudly after dinner, blow their noses, and some that even don't lock the door to the bathroom and are perfectly OK with for example the women brushing her teeth when the man is sitting on the toilet and reading the newspaper or vice versa. And the others where all this is strictly forbidden, and try to be very well mannered.

I have only been in the last kind of relationship myself, where good manners is important, even when it comes to natural bodily functions, but some times it seems like other people might be more natural about it and I kind of wish I could be just as natural about it, but I doubt I ever can.

How are you with these things? Natural or strictly well-mannered?

I honestly don't know how I would be. I'm all for walking around naked, so when I get married I won't mind that. Burping is natural, I don't see the big deal and I may be impressed by a guy who does it well. Farting- again natural. I will probably laugh my head of and applaud him if it's really loud. Um, now using the bathroom, I really don't know. Y'see when I was a kid I opened the door on my dad which...I mean.....it's still hard to talk about. :cry:I think that's where I'd draw the line. That and picking boogers. Just don't wanna see that. Blowing noses is fine. As is brushing teeth and flossing. Pulling wedgies is fine. Um......what else.......Guess that's it! :pink:

Well, I wouldn't want any of those relationships, those are the extremes. Obviously, I would prefer it if my husband didn't fart and burp in front of me but obviously its a natural thing and sometimes people just can't help it. I would just laugh it off but if it was too the point where he was just being disgusting on purpose (fake burping) then I would get a bit annoyed.....maybe I am uptight??

Nope that would never happen with me. :o^_^

Not much phases me, so whatever. The other person can do whatever as long as it's not completely intentionally disgusting, y'know? I, on the other hand, am ridiculously... conscious so it would take a lot for me to be comfortable doing those things around someone else. Double standard I know, but at least it's erring on the side of me being polite. lol

I'm thinking about the same as you here. I would certainly not mind a wife walking around naked. And I would probably just laugh if she farted or burped. Wouldn't care about nose-blowing. But yes, nose-picking is not allowed! And I'm not sure about the toilet. I guess I could handle nr1, but not nr2.

Especially about passing gas LOL. when you're single you can pass it as often and as loudly as you want ^_^^_^

Yes, life is not simple. Sometimes when I'm early in a relationship I often feel like a balloon. It is pretty uncomfortable.

but what if you really have to pass gas so badly and holding it only makes the gas worse? (I can't believe I'm asking this - REALLY - sorry if this looks absolutely outrageous)

talking about within a marriage - not beforehand

Well, in a marriage you should be comfortable with the other person but maybe passing gas in their presence is showing that you are too comfortable? I don't know.

Personally I would sneak into the bathroom or something. But I wouldn't mind if a girl did it, unless it was really smelly of course. Like smelling so badly that I would want to puke, then things like romance would not be as easy. :o

is there something wrong with being too comfortable around your spouse? lol...

I've only been in relationships where burping was not appropriate and even stomach grumbles were a bad thing. Personally, I wouldn't mind if a guy feels it's ok to do some of that stuff around me later on in the relationship but I would never do any of it around him...except maybe burp when we're married.

Im all for burping and farting, i think it funny that people find it cringeworthy.

My ex used to chuck a sad, saying that girls are supposed to that, he was actually serious. He used to whinge when i would say "haha i just farted"

My farting policy is that if I have to I will announce that I "have to poot" and then run away. That way I can do so somewhere out of sniffing and hearing range. This ends up being both amusing and polite.
