  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Palin has some expensive tastes

This is another one of those "No matter what my candidate does, they're still high and mighty because they agree with me about abortion" issues.

The Republican party completely misappropriated funds here and the physical image, something that Hollywood is regularly criticized by the right for, is becoming more important than the actual issues. This is NOT like spending money on advertising, campaigning, travel and hotel stays for cities visited for campaigns. Because it isn't ABOUT the campaign. I could understand if Palin didn't have a nice suit and if they bought her some from Macy's which has a nice selection of clothes. But you don't spend $150,000 on clothes for a woman who I don't think ANYONE ever insulted for her taste before. No one cared or noticed what she was wearing before but now they are. Why encourage that sort of superficiality.

It should also be noted that there has yet to be proof that Obama wears the most expensive suits ever and Michelle doesn't know how to thrift to save her life. Provide some proof before you go off. Remember that God said "Don't bear false witness" and that includes providing proof before you go off on the accusations.

Personally, I think any Christian who doesn't see what's wrong with spending that much money on clothes needs to reread the Gospel and see what Jesus talked about more than anything else. This is about the same as the Pharisees with the flowing robes.

Don't forget, she's a former pagent runner - she likes to dress up and play grown-up!

Well, not all of us can have looks and smarts.

You were looking in the mirror when you typed that

this campaign has really taken a toll on you, james. you used to have arguments for what you said, citations, references, links. might you have some examples of the violence that has been perpetrated by the obama savages? any links?
i mentioned to you on another thread the man who gunned down six people in a unitarian church because of their liberal views, the local democratic party chairman that was gunned down in his headquarters. do you have something like this you could point to that the liberal sickos are doing? do you have similar videos to link to that show the endless parade of hateful negativity that we have seen on parade entering and leaving mccain/palin rallies?
as for your other embarrassing thread, it wasn't that you were fooled by it that is humiliating, it is the exultation that you exhibited over the possibility that you could finally link to something that might help negate the overwhelming evidence for the vile nature of the gop campaign. you seemed thrilled that you could point to a racist violent act to prove the coming disaster. you celebrated this violent hoax as if it was a gift to you. it was a very sad performance. i miss the old james. he occaisionally challenged me, and that doesn't happen any more. you think welfare recipients should lose their voting rights? that's the best your mind can invent? dig deep and find the old james. your party needs him. they have plenty of clones of the new james. they are a dime a dozen.

It's also worth pointing out that Sarah Palin's celebrity make-up artist is paid more than McCain's foreign policy adviser.

What a joke.
Actually, that isn't really surprising. I think its too bad they couldn't have gone with someone a bit less pricey.

We have a situation in which people show malice for here large family, sexism, and classism. There may be some real issue here, but I don't really see it.

Don't get me wrong, $20K per family member is a lot of clothes (and of course I think that Palin got more than her "share"), but there's really no point to this expression of rattling of one's moth against her because people hate big families, ignore that place of clothing in a woman's expenses in positions like Palins, disagree with her on abortion, and essentially don't believe that someone who can't afford somewhat competitive clothing should run for office.

Sorry hate is hate and it has resulted in bad actions on both sides.
It appears that one side fabricates fake attacks; and when later shown to be false, those promoting the attack pretend as if they didn't promote the false story. There is one side making racist comments. There is one side making racist T-shirts. There is one side with organizations sending out racist fliers and e-mails. There is one side putting out videos that promote bigotry against people of a particular religious faith. There is one side posting smears and lies on this forum repeatedly despite being debunked repeatedly. To say "both sides" are doing this is being intellectually dishonest. You may wish this was The Incredibles and have everyone a superhero thus no one is a superhero, but that idea is a pipe dream. The hatred, bigotry, racism, and fabricated stories is coming from one side. The Republican Party is hoping that by poisoning the well, they may be able to pull out a victory.

LOL..When there was black people in the White House..Condoleeza Rice..Colin Powell..I heard plenty of racist comments from the other side so racism exists on that side as well. The reason there is no racism coming from the left is both the candidates are white. That seems to be pretty self explanatory.

Sorry not on topic and not relevant to this thread. Fess up for what?
The stories linked seem to indicate the officers viewed the wounds and that was on the police report. How are we supposed to know something is false when reputable news sources..the local Pittsburgh media..said information was on the police reporT?
I dunno James, use a little bit of common sense and not go firing off "OH MAN OBAMA'S SUPPORTERS ARE ATTACKING REPUBLICANS OH NOES".

Yep...we should take away the vote from those on welfare. Once you have started a nanny state, it's hard to get people away from the government tit. People want the government to solve all of their problems although with its past track history I would he more suspicious.
So you are talking about removing the vote from the military?

Citations are in another thread. I won't respond to the rest of your post which is just an ad hominem attack and you bring up irrelevant points which are not relevant to the original discussion. If you want video, here it is

that's it? the finger? you are equating that to the racial epithets being thrown around with confidence by the gop crowds? the calls for obama's death? the gunning down of a campaign headquarters chief for the dems?

very lame, james. very lame.

Or there are the people wearing MILP t-shirts and burning Bush in effigy? What about the Repub. County leader that had his home shot up? I don't hear racial epithets and calls for Obama's death.
Don't deny there isn't racism on the other side. Colin Powell and Condi Rice are Uncle Tom and Aunt Jemima according to some people in the left

And now Colin Powell is a traitor who votes based on race according to some of the right.
