  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

We just got our new wetbag for the diaper bag. My timer on the washer just went off, in fact. I love our wetbags. Just be sure to wash them like normal first so it will set the PUL. I didn't know that and I have one that is constantly....well, wet! lol

I thought I didn't like pockets but some of the newer ones I've gotten, I'm really fond of. I just got prefolds in the mail this week but so far they have been a disaster. I'll likely just turn around and resell them. :D

I don't like prefolds either, not as much as I hoped I would. The only prefolds I have left are newborn and some for burp cloths. I wish I would like them because they are cheaper, but I have to (or want to) make diaper changes fast and don't have time to do all those folds. Also my toddlers appear to be squirmy.

I love fuzzi bunz pockets the best but now I love the Thirsties all in ones because I don't have to stuff them-- more time saved!

Time is at a premium here, lol.

I can imagine it is with three little ones lol

I am liking the pockets for convenience, the IV fitteds for soakability and I just don't think I am digging on the pfs. *shrug*

My main prob with the pfs is that J is SO stinkin' wiggly. He doesn't want to wait while I adjust, pin, adjust and pin again and then put a cover on. He wants a quick off and on so he can get back to exploring. Silly kid. :)

I'm growing more and more fond of my fitteds with covers. I have BabyBeehind one size fitteds... Maddie doesn't even come close to wetting through them in a 4 hours stint... I'm considering trying these for night time. ATM we are in disposables at night cause Maddie sleeps from 10pm-8am...
I think i'm getting a little more confident with nappies now too which may be why i like the fitteds more now. It doesn't take me as long to get the nappy on her and snapped closed as it did before... so the extra bit of time that it takes to put the cover on doesn't bother me like it did before!

I can't wait til summer so I can show off Maddie's gorgeous nappys!!! No clothes on her bum!!!

I must be weird- I LOVE prefolds!! It is what I used when I was nannying for a family about 3 years ago, and it is also what my SIL uses on my niece. Then again I've yet to use a pocket or AIL diaper so we'll see. Now if she would just hurry up and get here so I can test out my FB's and BG 3.0s :D

I love the idea, too and I was telling my grandma tonight that if I had started out with prefolds, maybe I'd love them...but I started with disposables and then worked my way into fitteds and pockets....THEN tried the pfs! lol

I love our fitteds, too. They are so quick and easy with a snappi! And that way, J gets to wear his monster fluff, too! :D

I tried the flat nappies that i have here (which I now use as spew rags)... but I hate them compared to the other types of cloth nappies that are available!

I have tried all 3 of the onesize now... I really like them. I think I'll get some more of them... instead of getting sized nappies. At least I can use them on a newborn right through til toilet training!

SOTFB, you'll love your BG 3.0. They are really awesome nappys! I only used one of the inserts (the smaller one i think) and Maddie was in the nappy for almost 3 1/2 hours and there were no leakages at all! I was really impressed! What are FB's?

Wow! There are so many different types of nappies! I'm so lost lol!

I'm excited to try the BumGenious in particular too angelsgirl. It makes so much sense to have a nappy which will grow with our babies.

Mat has been in disposable this weekend as we've been staying with the in laws, and he has leaked out of every single one.:sigh: We're both running out of clothes now.^_^ Thankfully mum has some terries that I could put him in last night.

..My MIL wrinkles her nose and says "Oh so you can't afford Pull Ups." I babysat a boy for a couple months who used those. They stink like some perfume smell and leak more than the cloth.

I'd say something really snarky to that. ^_^

"No actually, I prefer the laundry over the smelly trash.."
"Well, he actually feels wet with these.."
"We're getting on fine thank you.. :p"

My nappies arrived and yesterday I washed them for the first time so that I could start using them. As I was hanging them out to dry I noticed that the inserts of both the BumGenious AND the Haute have come apart at the seams a little bit.

I'm very disappointed, has this happened to anyone else?
I have to decide what to say to the company now, I want to get a refund!:sorry:

I have been thinking alot about using cloth nappies from birth next time. I only started using cloth at about 6 weeks with Maddie. But I would really like to use cloth from the beginning with number 2.
So, what are the best sorts of nappies for newborns? I'm thinking prefolds would be a good and economical way to go, considering how many they go through in a day (all that poop!!!). I don't want to use terry flats though.
What brands are good?
Can you snappi a cotton prefold? Can you get different material prefolds?
What covers go best over them?
Has anyone used the Bambino Mio prefolds before?
Sorry about the thousands of questions!

I have used Fuzzi Bunz size small and bumGenius One Size pockets for newborn.

That shouldn't be happening. I've had my current inserts for 18 months and the stitching is just fine on them.

Angelsgirl - you can get prefolds in cotton, hemp, bamboo and various types of weaves. I am a fan of good ol' unbleached Indian cotton prefolds. I got mine from www.little-lions.com Many CD moms swear by www.greenmountaindiapers.com prefolds.

My favorite covers hands down (and I've tried them all) are Thristies. Oh, and I love wool, too.

Did you find that the cotton was absorbent enough? I'm worried that it'll get wet through really really quickly.
