  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I took this photo early this morning to show you what I am using for Matt. It works out to be much bulkier than an AIO or a disposable.

Angelsgirl, I don't know that I'd call Matt a heavy wetter as such, but I do find disposables quite leaky. It occurs to me that you should bear in mind while trying the terries on Madeleine that she sleeps in a 10 hour stretch, whereas Matthias wakes to nurse every 2-3 hours. That may have an effect on the efficacy of terry towelling.;) If you are going to give them a go at night, I'd def use the PVC pilchers that you have.
I remember trying the nappies on Matt when he was a week old, poor kid! they covered his knees and he couldn't move!^_^

I tried the pea pods again yesterday and while they are closer to a good fit they still leak.:(

Assisi... yeah that is true. Maddie is in the disopsable for about the 10 hours. And it hasn't leaked yet. But I use Aldi nappies not Huggies. I had more leaks with huggies than aldi and cloth nappies combined! Do you use the pilchers during the day? you would at night though right?
I hope the pea pods fit soon!!! Leaking is no fun. Also how many times have they been washed? I think it takes about 5 or so washed before they are getting fairly absorbent.
That is such a cute photo of Matt... Awwww... i wish I was coming down sooner so I could give him a hug!!!

Maddie peed right through her Itti yesterday. It was amazing, she has never peed that much before. I think it was a once off, i put her in another one and it was no where near as wet.
I'm really wishing my new nappies were here now... I want them! I want to try them out. Why is it that there are never any shops irl near me who sell lots of different sorts of MCN???

I'm definitley getting some liners though. SO over scrubbing poo off the nappies! At least with a liner most of it will be on that!!!

Yeah... that was for hemp/bamboo... I checked what the inserts were made of and they are microfibre. So 1 wash it is!!! YAY!!!
Means we can start using them now!

They are just a little different to the nappies I am used to using, so I'll just have to get used to them.
I really like the look of the Haute nappy... (it may be because it is red...)
Also may be because it is snap closure not hook and loop.
I like the snap closure much better than the hook and loop. I have a couple of H&L nappies now though. Ah well. It still does the same thing! As long as the nappy stays on, that is all that matters!

I'm actually really starting to like the fitted nappies with a cover. Before I really didn't like them... I think i'll get a few more of them later on. They are also OSFM (the ones i use) so I'll only have to buy sized covers for them.

Bah... I am totally addicted to nappies! I need help! :sorry:

Ladies, what do you do for nappies when you're travelling or going away for a weekend? My husband and I are visiting family this weekend, and travelling interstate next week. Does anyone still use cloth in these situations? I'm thinking it'll be a lot to carry as we travel, and that it'll be tricky to wash/soak.

Ooh! What about if you're out all day? I spend a couple of days every week out all day with Mat, and we use disposables on those days because then I can just throw them out and not worry about them. There's something very unappealing about carrying 'round a dirty nappy from 9am until 7pm.^_^

We are going to Florida for a week when the baby is 3 months old. I plan on using disposables. I figured it won't be too bad for just one week. I can't imagine traveling while trying to CD.

What is 'hook and loop'? And what is a fitted nappy with a cover?
Here is a picture of a Bummis cover with hook & loop closure (it used to be called Aplix): https://moiras.site5.com/~zannaduc/shop/customer/home.php?cat=306
and here is a Kissaluvs fitted diaper that needs a cover/wrap: https://moiras.site5.com/~zannaduc/shop/customer/product.php?productid=16303&cat=264&page=1
And here is a Sugar Peas fleece snap cover that you can snap in the diaper to make it an AIO (All In One): https://moiras.site5.com/~zannaduc/shop/customer/product.php?productid=16617&cat=307&page=1

I just love how many options there are! Every baby is "built" a little differently, so you can always find Something that works for your baby's particular build! :)

I'll bring some down tomorrow so you can see them IRL!

Basically H&L is fancy velcro. Fitted nappies don't have a waterproof cover on them like the pea pods or itti bitti's that you have. They need to have a waterproof cover put on over them to be completely waterproof. They are like the terry flats you use, but in the shape of a nappy. The entire nappy is absorbant (cept for the cover).
Hope that makes sense!

I'm using pre-fold and covers or pins with DS. I needed to switch to cloth diapers cheaply after DH broke his ankle back in May. I also use old receiving blankets like flats, pin them and use a cover.

Now that DS has begun peeing in the potty I just use the cover to hold them up so he can pull them down and up himself.

My MIL wrinkles her nose and says "Oh so you can't afford Pull Ups." I babysat a boy for a couple months who used those. They stink like some perfume smell and leak more than the cloth.

Pockets are GREAT for travelling. That is what we used when we went to TX last week. Just make sure you have a wetbag for the back and forth. :)

I am awaiting the very last of my fluffy mail. My mom got two packages today and all I'm waiting for is my spiderman greenacre dipe...It is to DIE for...j-man is going to LOVE it! :D

I'm still waiting on some fluffy mail too!!!
I am so totally loving my new nappies! I love the bumGenious ones. They are super cool! I just wish they had some more funky colours! I'm a huge fan of bright colours!!!
I've got Maddie in a Haute Pocket One Size at the moment. So we'll see how that one goes. I also have a Happy Heiny One Size Pocket to try too. Then we'll have tried all the new ones!
I have another 3 Itti Bitti D'Lish on the way too. I LOVE those nappies. They are SO cute and absorbant!

Speaking of wetbags, I really need to get one... I've been using plastic bags...
