  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yea.
Don't

If they have regulations against it (Given you don't want to get caught, it sounds like there might be) would being a deceiver really be the best action ?

nobody cares if you have it as long as it can't be seen. hence the clear or flesh colored barbells...

If there's no regulations against it, they why worry about being caught ?

If you can't do it because you must get the standard color, and that will get you in trouble IF you get caught with them, do you feel the risk is worth the reward of getting the pearcing ?

If you are willing to take any disciplinary action against you if they see it, then go ahead.
But if you were warned about them, and there's any complications (I.E. Infection) , the military can be unforgiving at times.

If you've really got your heart set on it might be just about doable. The swelling after you get your tongue pierced will have normally gone down after 5 days, so if you get your tongue pierced as soon as possible after finishing work, then replace the stud with another one yourself just before you go back to work I think you should be okay. Problem is, if the swelling hasn't gone down by 5 days you might have difficulty getting a smaller bar in (they put in a longer bar when you first get it done, so that it it still fits when your tongue swells up). I have no idea though how noticeable other tongue studs are, and if you are putting a new one in yourself make sure you screw it in as tight as possible, otherwise it will end up coming undone and you'll inevitably swallow one of the balls (like I did!). Be prepared for at least 2 or 3 days of not being able to eat comfortably though.

To be honest, it's a bit risky, so don't blame me if anything goes wrong :D

How can i get my tongue pierced in the air force and not get caught? the lady i talked to at the shop said she can't switch the barbell out to a clear one until 3-6weeks after the initial piercing. and i only have 5 days off work... any suggestions?

If there are regs against it don't do it. It's not it's essential to your daily life. Military life is an odd choice for someone not willing to cope with dress codes.

If there's no regs against it then carry on -- after all you can't get "caught" doing something wrong when it's wrong.

I've never met someone with a tongue piercing I wasn't aware of within a few moments. It's always pretty obvious unless you don't speak at all.
