  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

I'm not a Muslim but there are some good English translations of the Qur'an... such as the A. Yusuf Ali translation and it is available through Amazon.

Also most Islamic Centers have give away editions and I think there may be some that are free over the internet...

I like the A Yusuf Ali.. but there are many others such as by Allamah Nooruddin is quite modern in explanation. The translation by Muhammad Asad is very good and scholarly if you like that.

The traditional version in English is by George Sale and it has some appendices/notes that are quite prejudiced but the text for it's age is often cited in older books.

I saw another thread where you were asking about the Quran, I was wondering why you have an interest in studying it? Curiosity?

But like Arthra said you can get a copy through the Amazon or you can go to a local bookstore.

Yeah, I heard his translations were good.

Was that the thread in TAW?

As a beginner, I'm interested in a careful study of the text.

I would hope that some practicing Muslims could give me references to a good English translation.

What I was thinking is that there could be incorrect translations or false copies of the real Qur'an.

Take good care when reading the Qur'an; many trip and fall when reading what is false just one time. I read it and got through it only with the help of Jesus. Islam is not like Mormonism, Buddha, New Age, Jehvahs witnesses; the Qur'an was truly written by the enemy, a fallen angel or even satan. I found over 430 verses in the Qur'an where the author eagerly desires to torture humans. Please read my thread, "new muslim."

Keep the Bible and the Qur'an separate. An error is to view the Bible through the eyes of the Qur'an and vice versa. One scripture does not lend itself to the other. Rather, the book written later counters the book written before.

There are editions available that have the Arabic text and assists so you can see for yourself how accurate the translations are.. Just like the Bible which is in Hebrew and Greek text you can check it out for yourself and learn somethings... I wouldn't destroy any Holy Book ... it's against my religion!

So what makes a book Holy? Can C.S. Lewis "Mere Christianity" be Holy?

A Holy Book is revealed by God... I thought you knew that!

In my religion though destroying books is forbidden.

"The unbelievers and the faithless have set their minds on four things: first, the shedding of blood; second, the burning of books; third, the shunning of the followers of other religions; fourth, the extermination of other communities and groups."

Could you provide some source that the Qu'ran was written by Satan? Firstly, (assuming Satan even exist) why would he write a holy book in the first place?

To me, the Qu'ran was written by man, just like the Bible, and people just claim it was revealed by God. Without no real way of knowing.

You don't believe Satan exists, what is the point expounding the theological Christian stance? What is your interest in that source then?

You shall know it by their fruits...

If someone's going to indicate that Satan has written a holy book, I'd like to know why they'd believe Satan would choose to write a holy book. The issue with holy books in the first place is they are written by people. People are flawed, why would an all powerful being rely on a book as one way of communicating with man, knowing that mankind is inherently flawed?

To practicing Muslims, where can I find a copy of book in the English translation?

There is a website I usualy take the verses from which is the one down below which you might check the translated Holy Quran you have with.

http://www.islamicity.com/mosque/surai.htm

There are important steps you have to follow:

1. You have to make ablution first to show respect to Allah/God/YHWH and to His Holy words:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOAIrpcFh_8&feature=related

2. Then you shouldn be clean from drinking alcoholic or having drugs to make you understand the words in the Holy Quran. I mean you have to be clean from the beginning of the day.
And I wish that no one drink or use drugs to avoid getting into troubles and sickness.

3.Sit in a private place away from TV or radio to make you concentrate on the meanings of the Holy Quran.

May Allah/God/YHWH bless your heart with knowledge and wisdom.

As I said before. Don't build your dreams on others' disasters!
I can see that you are so interested in reading both Holy Quran and Holy Bible.
The thing I can tell you about is that you didn't understand any, niether the Holy Quran nor the Holy Bible. Because with careful readings and understandings you will come to a conclusion that they are both Holy.
It is not the Holy Quran's fault nor the Bible's or the Torah's. If people who have limited knowledge may come and say out of envy and greed that the Holy Quran is the word of Satan.
If it is the word of Satan then why his words didn't stop the war long time ago? Or at least did any good in the humans life?
War was created because of people being away from Holy words and that's why the devil possessed them. Free your soul from devils that possessed your brain and soul with ideas to seperate the three Holy religions apart.

Maybe this image will make you think twice before you say anything about any Holy religion.
We are all one power whether you like it or not.
And Holy places gather us together.
If you don't want to join peace then choose what suits you but you have to know your limits. If you have some logic let's see your reasons instead of attacking others If you want people to believe your claim. Start using logic and wit for your claim. At that time you might find someone to listen to you.

Love is what gathers us

and evil is what seperate us.

Do you see any companions next to him?

Go back to the goodness in your soul that the Creator grew in every human heart from there you might see the truth that love with no conditions is the answer. What the fight for if you love someone?
Just answer this question!

Sorry to snick in ...but what do you do with people who have sinus problems and cannot use water daily up their nose...as it can aggrivate their sensitive sinus and ph ballance... Can they skip it?

Philothei, you are welcome at any time. It's my pleasure to clarify things to you and others.
Rinsing the nose with water is to clean it. Lets say you are cleaning your nose from snot. I am trying to make the picture clear to you.
This is the reason why you clean your nose with water the same way you clean it with tissue paper but gently.
