  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An update on Colleen....

She had the additional surgery and had a drain inserted into her abdomin to help drain the fluid. She is still in pain but she seems to be better.

Her husband told my sister that he really appreciates everyone's prayers.

my pastor is coming to dinner tonight - he's going to sit with my husband and son (both unconverted - although my husband would say he is, but his beliefs are pretty universalist) and go through the Gospel message start to finish.

Given the fact that I have cancer I think about them more and more - I want to greet them in heaven. But they don't want to hear it from me (heck, neither one of them want to talk about the fact that I have cancer - it isn't a dirty word, neither will it go away if we just ignore it)

So - if you would please pray that God opens their ears, unstiffens their necks and softens their hearts I would be most grateful.

I'm sorry to hear about Colleen, Rosey. :prayer:

A few minutes ago, I got some news that a former co-worker died last Sunday. She hadn't been in good health for some time, but it was still a shock to find out she'd passed.

She was my second in my office, was whip smart and was a great person. A devout Christian and just a very sweet, loving person.

I'm going to miss her. Please, if you can remember her, pray for her, her husband, and her nieces and nephews, all of whom she doted on.

Thank you.

Flat, I will pray for her family and also pray for you. I'm sure it is a shock. I'm struggling today, too. I just got back from a memorial service for a friend of mine. I confess, I'm really down today. But I know that our God is GOOD.

Hi everyone,
Nice to meet ya!
Many blessings and answered prayers to you all!!!!!!!!!
I have the joy of a prodigal daughter who I do not get to see or talk to by my daughter's choice. Her father only supports her to get back at me but I forgive them both. It is just super painful!!! I know that God is in control and has special plans for the ministry when she makes it back. She is almost 13 years now. She has threatened to kill me for no reason and is hostile over the phone. It is so hard. Again her birthday is coming up and I dont' know if I should just send her a card or gift or have something sent to her school if her father isn't giving her cards....
Please pray in agreement with me that the Holy Spirit will continue to strengthen me to deal with this very difficult time....
Thank you and many blessings to ya all.
Walk by faith not by sight.

I am in serious need for discernment, wisdom, and courage right now. Thank you for your prayers.

Praying for the Holy Spirit to gently and lovingly guide you and direct you through and give you His courage to discern with His wisdom. Will continue to pray for you. :crossrc:

God is so good. He is just so good.

I love the way He loves each of us. It says He calls us each by name, He calls us each His own. We are His beloved.

Some years ago I was hungry for God. I was on fire--I couldn't get enough of just worshiping Him, meditating on His word, studying my bible. I just wanted to be in His presence continually. I wanted Him to change me and make me more into what He wanted me to be.

Of course I was attacked. I was told that I was too close to God. The Lord sent me a vision of myself on a mountain during that time, which I describe in my blog. Something else happened, too, which I am going to describe here because I believe that it might encourage someone.

I was so hurt. I remember sitting at my kitchen table, just looking outside, trying to come to terms with the attacks against me. I was so down. I couldn't believe that Christians could treat another Christian this way, even making up lies about me.

As I continued to think and stare outside, suddenly there was an angel in front of me. I couldn't see him with my physical eyes, but I saw him with my spiritual eyes. He was tall, maybe 10 feet. He had a message for me, just a few words, and then he was gone.

His words were, "Consider who you are."

I was overwhelmed but I began that moment thinking about who I am in Christ.

I am my Father's daughter.
I am beloved by my God.
I am His jewel.
I am His little lamb.
I am His pearl of great price.
I am royalty.
He loves me with an everlasting love. He calls me His own. He will never leave me or forsake me.

My sister, my brothers in Christ, be encouraged.

Consider who you are.

Thank you for sharing this. God be with you and continue to embrace you in His love and grace and goodness.

More Words of Comfort, Encouragement and Edification--

Remember this day that you are loved.
God loved you even before you were saved, Romans 5:8.
You are a beloved daughter or son of the Most High King, 1 John 3:1.
You are His little lamb, John 10:16. He speaks to you, John 10:27. He calls you by name, John 10:3.
You are His jewel, Malachi 3:17.
You are His pearl of great price, Matthew 13:45-46.
He died so that He might give you eternal life, John 3:16.
He did not come to condemn you, but to save you, John 3:17.
If anyone condemns you, that is not His doing, Romans 8:1.
He promises to instruct you and teach you, Psalm 32:8.
He promises to protect you, Psalm 32:7.
He will give you friends who also fear the Lord and love God, Psalm 119:74.
He is with you, Matthew 28:20.
His Holy Spirit is within you, Romans 8:9.
When you call on His name, He will come and save you, Romans 10:13.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper, Isaiah 54:17.
He will never leave you or forsake you, Hebrews 13:5

Amen and Amen. Truly these words are a blessing. Thank you.

A prayer request--

Yesterday I was at the funeral for someone in my church who died of cancer. Please pray for his family, and for his dear wife. They are really broken up.

Another related request--

I hate cancer. It is a terrible disease, ravaging lives, gouging families of their precious ones.

Many years ago I began praying for God to help us find a cure. He is answering that prayer, I believe, as research continues. Most startling to me, He has been using my oldest son to help find a cure against cancerous tumors, including breast cancer.

My son works for a pharmaceutical company, GSK. There is a new drug which looks extremely promising.
He didn't invent it, but has invented the manufacturing process and also used statistics to help get it through the test trials about a year quicker. It is now in the third stage of FDA trials.

Could you help me pray for this drug to get through the last trial more quickly? So far it looks more effective than any other treatment. So many people need it. Could you help me pray for them?

Praying for the above requests. :crossrc:

praying for your continued recovery

Father God - we lift Bella up to You. Give her a discerning mind and heart, help her see Your will clearly and give her the strength and courage to walk the path that you have laid out for her. We ask these things in the name of Your most precious Son, Jesus the Christ.

Amen

Amen and Amen. In Jesus Name.

I don't always post when I come to this thread. Often I just scroll through it and pray. Here I am this morning, doing this.

May God bless each of you and keep you. May He shine His face upon you and be gracious to you. May He keep each of you in His presence, and may He reveal Himself in still greater ways to you today.

In Jesus' name I pray.

God Bless You and always shine through you.

I have two prayer requests:

1) A lady from our church passed away after battling cancer. Her funeral is on Thursday. Can you please pray for her husband and two children.

2) I would also like to ask everyone to pray for the people of Zimbabwe at this time of strife after the election.

Love & Blessings
Rebecca xx

Praying for her and her family and friends and loved ones. May God help the family and friends and loved ones get through this time of heartache and pain and suffering. May He embrace them with His gentle comfort and love and peace.

Praying for Zimbabwe. May our Lord Jesus help them to be peaceful through this time of strife.

Please pray for my sister's sister-in-law, Colleen. Colleen has pancreatic cancer. She has been battling it for about a year. Tried the chemo and radiation, tried treating it herbally. She is very thin but hasn't given up and is fighting this.

On Wednesday she had surgery to remove the cancer and a tumor. It is a new procedure that they remove your internal organs, remove the cancer, and then put the organs back inside of your body.

She had cancer removed from her gallbladder, her kidneys, her pancreas and her intestines. They also removed a tumor.

Colleen has two small children. This illness has brought both her and her husband to the Lord.

Could you please keep her and her family in prayer.

:crossrc:praying continually with all of my heart for her and her family and the doctors.

I am so sad this morning. A lady from my church passed away last night, a young woman who had so much of life ahead of her. She was one of the shut-ins I would go see with my pastor's wife of Tuesdays to pray for. Both my pastor's wife and I are stunned this morning. We prayed so much, we fought so hard. I just don't understand. I find myself thinking the same thought I did when my beloved father-in-law died. I don't understand, but I am glad I prayed. I'm glad that my pastor's wife and many other people in our church fought. I'm glad we didn't give up, even when things were looking really bad. There is still so much I don't understand. I wish I knew more how to pray.

Please pray for her dear husband, her mother, her family. Please pray for her husband's finances, he's really having a hard time with this. Please pray for the physicians that treated her.

I feel selfish for asking, but please pray for me and my pastor's wife, too. We are really hurting.

Praying with all of my heart. :crossrc:

Update on Colleen.....please keep her in prayer. :prayer:

Colleen had a CT scan yesterday. The scan shows fluid accumulation in her abdomen. This is not normal and seems to explain her recent bouts of pain and fever. She called this morning and said that there is a good possibility that the doctors will open her up again and put in a drain.

They discontinued food and drink this morning - an indication that anesthesia will follow.

Praying :crossrc:

Colleen's youngest is only 2 years old. Her husband is trying to take care of two children and spend time with his wife. The hospital is over an hour away from where they live.

We really appreciate the prayers. :prayer:

Will continue to keep them in my prayers. :crossrc:

I'm sorry to hear about Colleen, Rosey. :prayer:

How this must hurt your heart. I am so sorry.

I know God can turn this around, Prov. 21:1. I am praying now for you and for your daughter, for discernment and wisdom.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you how important it is to forgive and keep on forgiving your husband and daughter, Matt. 6:14-15. Forgive, and give our Father your hurt, Ps. 55:22. Forgive, and give this situation to Him and ask Him to move in it. Also ask Him for wisdom to know when to speak, when to go, what to do. You can ask for this, for He has promised it, Ps. 32:7-8.

And then listen. I used to ask our Father for wisdom on a daily basis. One day He told me that He had given me wisdom--His name is Jesus. All the wisdom in the universe abides within me, He said. Then He said if I would just stop and listen before I said or did anything, then I would act and speak with wisdom. He was so right--He has given us wisdom, but we need to listen to Him first.

I am praying for you. I care.

Gazelle, your banner reminded me of a night I was praying for China. I was led to pray for the many Christians who have suffered for their faith.

There are times when the Lord will show me things, guiding my prayer, this was one of those times. I had my eyes closed in prayer when the Spirit showed me a man in prison. Somehow I knew there was something he wanted to say to the rest of us.

I asked the Lord what it was he wanted to say. In my spirit, I knew.

So tonight, let me tell you what this dear brother in a Chinese prison wanted to say to all of us. He wanted to say that Jesus is enough. That even in the most horrible circumstances Jesus is enough.

Jesus is enough.
