Would that be anything akin to the religion of Judaism's Talmud?I would suggest an indepth study of the Council of Trent, as well as the Catholic Catechism.
There are a few political bits that I could touch up on...
However, one of your popes apologized for crimes, in the times I'm thinking of, that were made in the name of Catholicism.
But, just for kicks and because of the after effects we still see...
Crusades.
Lack of fasting.
Scholasticism
Filioque
Papal Supremacy
Immaculate Conception
Strawman.Hey, have you guys apologized for murdered and torturing Maximus the Confessor for preaching orthodoxy? And for the torture and imprisonment of the pope at the time?
Hey, you're speaking to someone who was once Roman Catholic. Having experienced the fasting ways of both, I think it is fair to say if your methods are... lacking. It is amazing how someone so ignorant about Catholicism could be so bold to speak against it as if he knew what he was talking about.
Strawman.
St. Maximus the Confessor was not only pre-Schism but also later glorified (canonized to you folks) a saint.

Scholasticism: came about in the 13th century. Brought reason to theology. Unhealthy mix. Like oil and water.Tell me when we made those up? So I can show you an earlier patristic writing covering them.
Come on, it'll be fun.

Scholasticism: came about in the 13th century. Brought reason to theology. Unhealthy mix. Like oil and water.
Filioque: a Spanish king first introduced it in the 6th century at a local council in Toledo. Later flaunted by Charlemagne.
Papal Supremacy: long history. Either way, only observed in the Patriarchate of the West and later attempted to force onto the East.
Immaculate Conception: whomever the pope was in 1854.
You leveled a city. Twice. That's not a strawman. When has the pope ever tortured and murdered a saint for preaching orthodoxy? You freakin' arrested the pope. You guys seriously screwed up on that one and show you weren't very reliable.
Hardly. The norm is thus: no meat, dairy, fish, wine or food oil on Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year. Except during the weeks after Christmas and Pascha. That is also how we fast during the four fasting seasons. Now, if someone is medically unable to do so or if they are very young than that is different. That is the exception, not the norm.Orthodox fasting is only as strict as you and your priest make it be. The vast majority of Orthodox don't take it very seriously.
To say that there is a 'lack of fasting' in Catholicism is absurd.
I used to be Roman Catholic and Protestant now I am,do I dare say it, a CHRISTIAN!!!!
Not familiar with the works of St. Maximus, sorry. No year mentioned. Why do many patriarches and saints in the east proclaim supremacy? Including Maximus?
And if you think that I can not read and write than you have demonstrated stupidity. If you think the pope just randomy came out on the balcony one day in 1854 and declared the immaculate conception- you have demonstrated sheer ignorance about the Church.
Only because I disagree with the Elite Roman Papacy ideology and theology. If I stand behind any denomination it would be the Orthodox. But then I disagree with both of their ideologiesNo, you're a protestant. You have given into protestant ideology.
Just one more so than the other, yes?Only because I disagree with the Elite Roman Papacy ideology and theology. If I stand behind any denomination it would be the Orthodox. But then I disagree with both of their ideologies![]()
You leveled a city. Twice.
Did not come to the aid of Christian brethren.
Launched a Crusade in the areas of present day Lithuania (called Northern Crusades) which killed not only pagans but also Orthodox Christians.
Proselytized in already Orthodox lands.
Weigh it up.
As said: strawman.

Actually, I'll thank you for leveling it which allowed the only Orthodox safe haven to be in Russia. Beautiful country. Wish I could go there someday.By order or the pope or was it done by the mercenary forces? You'll find out the pope never approved of those actions.
By the way- you can thank us for saving your crumbling empire with the Crusades.
What about?I'm very aware of eastern fasting practices. I'm talking about lenten/advent practices.
Not familiar with the works of St. Maximus, sorry.
There is a difference between "primacy" and "supremacy". Because of the past 1,000 years of Schism, y'all have seen our "primacy" views to equate "supremacy".
And if you think that I can not read and write than you have demonstrated stupidity.
Yes, I realize the Orthodox also refer to themselves as the "Church". I will let you 2 battle on that one.Just one more so than the other, yes?
Ah, but denomination only applies to Protestantism. Eastern Orthodoxy is not only way of life, but also a Church.
Big difference. But another thread for another day.
