  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Are you for real? Why on earth would you group atheists with homosexuals, adulters, drug abusers, drug dealers, theives, and crooks.

Your ignorance is shining bright. :p
Well, it doesn't take much knowledge of Christianity to know that the first few of the Ten Commandments deal with idolatry, and atheism is a form of that. So atheism breaks one of the Ten, as do stealing, and adultery. In short, they are sins.

Atheism is idolatry? On which planet?

Please explain how atheism is idolatry? Not believing in God is a far cry from worshiping a false one.

If congress decides Civil Law should be consistent with Old Testament law, then the nation will have purity before God. If congress decides Civil Law will not be consistent with God's Law, then the nation will be judged by God.

But seriously though, if the nation is to be under the Purity of God's Law, then how, theoretically, would you enforce it for the millions of people, presumably who would be in violation of the laws?

There would probably be literally millions of people who would be in violation - how to round up, and punish them all?

Mass gassings? Mass public burning and hangings?

What's your recommendation of the most practical way to deal with literally millions of wrongdoers, under God's law?

First you have 're-education' camps. Then you have public executions for multiple offenders as some examples. Standard fascist doctrine.

you can do what they DO do! which is suppression. Simple, social suppression, either through misrepresentation by the state, or fiscally taxing the offendors. Forms of social sabotage.

Thats how you teeter on the edge of a republic and an oligarchy. Through simple manipulation of the masses. You voted, but you didn't really get to vote for the best guy. You paid your taxes, but they were spent on crap like laser cannons instead of education. You get a job but minimum wage just doesn't cut it. But the next season of American Idol is on, so, screw it.

one can easily create the illusion of a true democracy through oligarchal elitism.

Sure, the Bible says you should stone most of those people, but suppression and sedation seem to be the tools our government uses as forms of social control on its people.

Idolatory is a form of atheism?

I prithee, name one idol worshipped by an atheist.

Nay, I go further ... name any one thing or being worshipped by an atheist.

Reponse

There is no need for "Mass gassings? Mass public burning and hangings?". There are very few things that represent an immediate threat to society that would require execution under Civil Law.

When I was younger I smoked, but I soon started having bronchitis that got worse each year. I recognized smoking was evil and quit. However, it would have been better if I had never started smoking.

Some say smoking is a civil right, but the Bible says smoking is evil and the physical reality shows smoking leads to disease, death and destruction.

The government has started an advertizing program that says, "Do you know anything dumber than smoking". I see the solution to the problem of evil as a day when the government has an advertizing program that says, "Do you know anything dumber than extreme environmentalism, socialism, feminism, pornography, abortion, homosexuality and the Atheistic Lifestyle."

Other items to include are: Do you know anything dumber than a woman having a child without a man to support her. Do you know anything dumber than having a child when there is a high probability of a birth defect or a genetic problem. Do you know anything dumber than being fat.

With the government discouraging evil (non religious) and the church discouraging evil, I believe evil can be prevented and evil will be nearly eliminated.

But the first thing is to define good and evil. I believe that anything is evil when the Bible says it is evil and physical reality shows it leads to disease, death and destruction.

Evil cannot be solved when there is a political party that advocates evil. Evil cannot be defined when evolution is taught in the public schools because evolution says the Bible is incorrect.

Maybe what we need is a Cabinet level Department of Christian Ethics to advise the president and congress on good and evil. The Department of Christian Ethics could develop programs that would prevent evil from becoming a treat to society where Civil Law would have to be used.

Know what? With this sort of "preaching" I'm all for government crack down on it. In fact, thanks to you, I get to sit in my history, ethics, and political science classes defending the fact that not all Christians are extremist, elitist, judgmental, rude, and brainless morons.

Response

If you use the Bible in your defense, the defense will be easy.

The power of Christians is not in the Christian, but God and the Bible.

I do use my Bible -- it's called "shake the dust."

There is no way that I will send anyone even remotely near here with "Christians" with your attitude. Especially, toting a Baptist logo. It is bad enough I have to explain Fred Phelps. It’s a wonder the History books play out as they do already.

You are proof texting, ignoring scripture and ignoring other Christian’s evidential responses to you. You have no desire for spreading Gods word, your desire is to spread your word. This is preaching hate, bad news – not the good news about a father who loves us, and will give us ALL the knowledge we need through faith and the inner workings of the Holy Spirit. No MATTER what fleshly thing we struggle with. What is worse is that it is not even remotely studied or truthful.

I am not being mean, I am going to tell you like it is…This is no skin off my back, but if I were you I would get right with God on this matter. There are strict instructions about this namely, those whom know will be beaten with many stripes… those whom don’t will not nearly endure the same punishment. You know better, I have seen that you have been shown.

Little wonder, then, that the Christian Right's reliance upon its narrow interpretation of the Scriptures, and their failure to apply Jesus' command to love their fellow man, manages to drive so many away from Christ.

Alas for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to. Alas for you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You travel over land and sea to win a single convert, and when he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you are. -Matthew 23:13-15.

I'm having Images of the Taliban's notorious "Department for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice".

Theocracies are scary things.
