• Starting today August 7th, 2024, in order to post in the Married Couples, Courting Couples, or Singles forums, you will not be allowed to post if you have your Marital status designated as private. Announcements will be made in the respective forums as well but please note that if yours is currently listed as Private, you will need to submit a ticket in the Support Area to have yours changed.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why didn't Jesus sin? How did He keep from sinning?

Yeah, and I know how you feel about the bible.

Fallible and all that....
Hey, I have never been ashamed to say that I believe that the only infallible one in the Universe is the Creator of the universe. I won't give that honor to a book penned by men, no matter how devout they may be.

I think it makes a mockery of the Great Controversy to suggest it was impossible for Christ to sin. One of the reasons Christ came to this world, as Isaiah states:

"The LORD is well pleased for His righteousness' sake; He will magnify the law, and make it honourable." Isaiah 42:21

What example did Jesus leave us if it was impossible for Him to slip?

"Though he were a Son, yet learned he obedience by the things which he suffered" Hebrews 5:8

To suggest it was impossible for Christ to have sinned is equivalent to suggesting it is impossible for us to obey, which plainly contradicts the Word we have from Him "who is able to keep us from stumbling."

The texts in question do not even suggest such a thing as Christ having the potential to sin.

The problem is that all these assertions are being made on the basis of one source only, and that is EGW and the Great Controversy theme.

Which opens up another whole can of worms that I relish not one bit diving into.

I guess that would mean that God who is all powerful is not able to protect His own Word.

This is ridiculous. You believe that once men decided that this was God's word He was bound by that decision? You first have to show me where He said that the Bible is His Word, in the sense you are using the term. When you have done that we can talk, or have your people call my people.

Let me get this. He did not bother to stop a rebellion from happening in His house but He has to protect a book men decide to write but He does not even protect is fully. Do you even think a little bit about what you are saying?

2 Peter 1
19 And we have the word of the prophets made more certain, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts. 20 Above all, you must understand that no prophecy of Scripture came about by the prophet's own interpretation. 21 For prophecy never had its origin in the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.

MVA--RIGHT ON! Sometimes it's best to 'dust off your sandles', if you get my meaning. In order for a discussion to have results, at least you have to be in the same book on the same page--right?

Honor,

Yes, we must have a standard. Fortunately, God gave us one.

If I could ask a favor, in all seriousness, would you please rebuke me if I am in error? I would appreciate it.

MVA--I do NOT see that you are the one in error, so no reason for rebuking you at all.

But IMHO-I choose not to engage those who have no faith in the scriptures. It's like trying to make a person understand what a headache feels like when they have never had one--IMPOSSIBLE.
