  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Why didn't Jesus sin? How did He keep from sinning?

We know Christ came in the same flesh as you have I have. He had the genetic makeup handed down from Adam's fall through Abraham, Isaac, Jacob and King David. So He was made in all points just like we are. He had flesh and blood and could suffer death. So what kept Him from sinning........

Well, part of that would be because I'm human.

Christ did ask for the cup to be taken from Him. But He prayed that God the Father's will be done, and that's exactly what happened.
But the idea that Satan asked him to reject the cup is not in the Bible.

By entirely human I mean you are thinking of situations where humans challenge others. The more accurate way to think of it is in terms of humans and robots.
Robots cannot defeat humans because humans have the ability to shut down the robots. In the wilderness Lucifer was not attempting to get Christ to sin but to reinforce his claim to be the ruler of the earth based on what he had accomplished with A&E.

That's what I get for watching The Passion of the Christ!

He did ask for the cup to be removed from Him though, and He had to obey God the Father.
His plea was a reaction to the pain. There was no chance of Him disobeying His Father. He and His Father are one. The consequences of Jesus sinning would have been disastrous to the entire universe. He is the Creator and Sustainer of all. The enemy would not have lived to enjoy his victory and we would not be here. It could not happen.

If satan thought so highly of himself that he thought he should be equal to or above God, why wouldn't he be egotistical enough to think the world would exist if he managed to ruin God's plan?
First, he never wanted to be above God. Second, egotistical is irrational. You cannot judge reality by the actions of the irrational.

Christ did not rely on His own power to live a sinless life. That's the whole point. He trusted in the Father completely - to show us how we are suppose to do it. Trust in the Father completely.

If Christ would have used any of His own power to live a sinless life then His mission would have been a failure. He had our fallen nature and showed that we can live a sinless life by completely relying on the Father.

I agree.
