Humanity's only factor that allows us to "bend" the rules of evolution (so to speak) is culture, in that for the most part cultural selection is more important that anything else when choosing a mate. As humans ( and previously Neanderthals, as has been mentioned) are the only animals on earth with culture of any sort, it might explain in part why creationists think we're special and exempt from the rules of nature.

The platypus is seriously weird, not only is it the only one of its type left, but there are only 5 species of the egg laying monotreme order left (and the other four are all echidnas).

Different kind refers to differnet species. A person with Down's Syndrome is still a person, they aren't a different species.

I heard about a race of pure yellow people living around India and the time of Buddha and blue people living underground in northern Africa. But I don't believe this. But non-the-less it is interesting.

Because evolution is a natural process but humans mate for artificial social reasons.

Some people, science fiction writers and preachers, confuse social darwinism and evolution.

If anything, humans muddy the gene pool by permitting defective DNA to be passed to the next generation. For example, people with juvenile onset diabetes live to pass on their DNA.

The Tuareg in North Africa were said to have blue skin, but it was from the blue dye in their cloth seeping into their skin.
