• The General Mental Health Forum is now a Read Only Forum. As we had two large areas making it difficult for many to find, we decided to combine the Mental Health & the Recovery sections of the forum into Mental Health & Recovery as a whole. Physical Health still remains as it's own area within the entire Recovery area.

If you are having struggles, need support in a particular area that you aren't finding a specific recovery area forum, you may find the General Struggles forum a great place to post. Any any that is related to emotions, self-esteem, insomnia, anger, relationship dynamics due to mental health and recovery and other issues that don't fit better in another forum would be examples of topics that might go there.

If you have spiritual issues related to a mental health and recovery issue, please use the Recovery Related Spiritual Advice forum. This forum is designed to be like Christian Advice, only for recovery type of issues. Recovery being like a family in many ways, allows us to support one another together. May you be blessed today and each day.

  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

A song that always encourages me is "Rejoice in the Lord" by Ron Hamilton (aka Patch the Pirate :p ).
O Rejoice in the Lord
He makes no mistake
He knoweth the end of each path that i take
For when I am tried and purified

I shall come forth as gold

As for not believing in God, are you basing this solely off his seeming inaction? What alternative would you replace it with? (if you don't have one, there's no sense in it. Will you replace your belief in God with the plot-hole ridden atheist story of origins?)

Btw ANM29, I agree with you. It's hard for people that haven't had serious crises of faith to understand what it's like.

I totally agree with you too, however, the purpose of this thread is set up for the struggling christian to ask questions and seek answers. They are seeking answers by coming to this thread, RIGHT? Whether they find them helpful or not is another matter.

REMEMBER, no one suffered more than God's own son, JESUS HIMSELF. Everything else pails in comparison.
God in His infinite wisdom, has a purpose for everything. God uses suffering to bring those "who are His", closer to Him. Thus, those who truly belong to God are drawn closer to Him in times of suffering. We at times may stumble, but the TRUE BELEIVERS will perservere. For our character is tested in times of trials and it is through these trials, God finds out who is His faithful children are.

Trials and Temptations
JAMES 1:2-4,12
Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything....Blessed is the man who perseveres under trial, because when he has stood the test, he will receive the crown of life that God has promised to those who love him.

Thanks!...:) You are correct..

But that is very easy to say at times.:( Right now, I could almost crawl under a tree and die. I do know God exists, I just can't see his hand and I honestly have not seen it for a while when I think about it. But, I know my redeemer lives. He will see us through, he always does. Spiritual warfare is no joke though. On top of you faith being tested to the 10th degree after you feel like it was already tested as much as it could before the new test..Save me Lord! I know you will, but WHEN?:help:

I know this is all a part of my preperation..I deep down I know it is. I have not worshipped God in 5 months the way I normally do. 5 entire months. I have been that down for this long. Before this, I would worship him until I was tired at times. He had to already know I would go through this seriously dry spell, He had to already know.

I will worship him tomorrow in spite of anyway.. I must worship in spite of the storm. These waves are about to ship wreck me though, but the Lord is on board. Hallelujah!

There is no other alternative. At times like this though, you want to reach for something else. You think God must have left me for sure now, I have to search for another. But who? You know God is the only hope, but when your in a place so dark and cold you swear he does not exists anymore and you just want OUT and that is all you can think of.."GET ME OUTTA HERE" LOL!:help:

Oh praise God, i can laugh a little now. LOL! The light must be coming in slowly, I think it is.. Thank you Holy Spirit!

Rick Warren once said, life is a test. Character is both developed and revealed by these tests. We will be tested by major changes, by delayed promises, by impossible problems, by unanswered prayers, by undeserved critism, and even by sensless tragedies.

AS WE CAN SEE IN THIS THREAD, A VERY IMPORTANT TEST IS HOW WE ACT WHEN WE CAN'T FEEL GOD'S PRESENCE IN OUR LIVES. BUT SOMETIMES GOD DRAWS BACK TO REVEAL A WEAKNESS IN OUR CHARACTER.

The story of Hezekiah is a great example of this exact situation. God drew away from Him at a crucial point in his life to reveal a weakness in him and to prepare him for more responsibility.
Lets just realize that God wants you to pass this test of life.

GOOD NIGHT FOR NOW, GOD BLESS....

Yes, we act very crazy when we can't feel him. Well, I do. I was about to go nuts at one point. I can't live without him, it makes me crazy knowing he has withdrawn even for a minute. But, he never left me. He still is there. It just that the tests get harder and harder.

I see so many weaknesses it is not funny. Some I already knew I had, others I had no clue. I am glad to be weak really, then I have to depend and lean even more on my God. It all works out for our good in the end either way. I am not afraid to admit weakness at all.
