  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

are there any more virgins left?

I'm hesitent in writing this as I realise that traditionally the church values virginity until the marriage bed. But, there is a problem with marrying a virgin and that is that the sex life in a marriage can turn out to be an absolute disaster. This IS important as sex is a very important part of marriage. I realise that there are pros and cons both ways.
If you're both virgins until the marriage bed...THEN WHAT DO YOU HAVE TO COMPARE IT TO?!

Yes, there are still virgins out there.

I am. My BF is, so is his brother. My sister...three of my closest gal-pals...and plenty more guys and gals I know are waiting for marriage.

If you are looking for a someone who is particularly a virgin and even ones who have rededicated themselves to living in purity, it should be evident by the lifestyle they live. *Most* I know are the ones seeking after God with their whole heart, willing to sacrifice social status of "coolness" to please His heart, and are usually the ones involved with church ministries as well.

I do not know what the percentage is, but I'd say 40%or better have lost their virginity by age 17.
I thought the stats were much higher. 20% of fourteen year olds are sexually active. Around 50% of high schoolers have already lost their virginity. By late teens(18-19), 75% of young people are sexually active, and about 66% of those have had multiple partners.

more importantly - why make sex the be all and end all of the marriage? If you really love one another i think any sexual problems could and would be worked out eventually. i mean if there are couples that can survive one being paralyzed to the point of not being able to perform sexually i don't see why any other couple couldn't survive because the sex turned out to be different than they'd hoped.

Aye. 85% don't wait until marriage. Kinda depressing to realize you're one of the 15%.
depressing? why? you are doing what God wants.

More depressing to be one that now acknowledges God, and realizes that you've missed something really special.

exactly. I'm engaged, and I look forward to our physical relationship, but if suddenly for some reason that would be impossible, I'd still marry her.

Depressing to realize that you're one of the few that are doing what the Lord desires of you. Not depressing that I'm one of the few not having sex, but depressing to realize that so many others, particularly Christians, are having sex.

I believe that sex is a big part of marriage, but if your marriage is well rooted in the Lord, He himself will work this out. If you are truly in love with your spouse, that will work it out. I don't say this with any marrital experience, however, I say it with complete confidence in God and what He does for His children.

I myself am a virgin, and am holding onto it until marriage. Not saying that the opportunity hasn't presented itself, but I have a stronger faith in God and what he wants for me. And, I am not completely convinced that there are many more out there. I sure don't know any, except those that have said so on this thread.

Why!?!?! Catholics and Lutheran hold to waiting until marriage, just as any. You should look at your unchaste Lutheran and Catholic friends as being even more insane! ;)
True. Unfortuantely, and I can say this as a Lutheran "wishywashiness" is rampant in the litergical churches, it seems.

:thumbsup:He certainly does work it out. Experience is not neccessary for satisfying sex, it's not neccessary for great sex. There is something very beautiful and special about that first time, when you're working it out together. It's full of innocence. It's making me teary just thinking about it!

There are no problems which can't be overcome.

It's really sad when Christian friends say 'oh, well, that's alright for you, but I don't have it in me'. Don't they know it's God working?!?

Maybe they are higher, I'm honestly not surprised. :(

I'm not depressed about that fact, are you? I'm quite proud I can say I am among the few. :tutu:

I will most likely be getting married in the next year or two, but I will still be advocating waiting for marriage!!
