Okay since you asked. I didn't think I would have to offer proof, but again since you asked. Here:

Luke 1:36

"And, behold, thy cousin Elisabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age: and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren."

Luke 1:36
And behold, Elizabeth, your RELATIVE, has also conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month for her who was barren;

Do you mean the Old Testament? I am unfamiliar with the abbriviation the O.C. That is unless we're talking about a tv show, ;) . I'm curious. What does that mean? What do you understand that to mean? Please share with me your views.
Sorry. I refer to the Old Testament as the Old Covenant most times or a change of "Priesthoods". Just a habit I picked up LOL. :wave:

Luke 1:8 And it came to pass, in his acting as priest, in the order of his course before God, 9 according to the custom of the priesthood, his lot was to make perfume, having gone into the sanctuary of the Lord, 10 and all the multitude of the people were praying without/outside [#1854 exw],at the hour of the perfume. 11 And there appeared to him a messenger of the Lord standing on the right side of the altar of the perfume, 12 and Zacharias, having seen, was troubled, and fear fell on him;

Revelation 11:1 And there was given unto me a reed/ kalamoV, like unto a staff, saying-- Be Arousing!!!, and Measure!!!! the Sanctuary[#3485] of the God, and the Altar[Golden Altar of Incense], and them who are doing homage therein; 2 and, the Court/Palace[Court of High Priest/Altar of Burnt Offerings?][ #833] the one without the Sanctuary[#3485], be you casting out!! [#1544 ekbale] out-side,[exw #1854] and you should not be measuring,

Whatever. Chill out. You don't have to shout. Some translations use cousin others use relative. I got my reference from KJV. Relax. It's not the end of the world if we don't agree.

No, don't be sorry. I was just a little confused, but I had a feeling that's what you meant. I'm glad to get that cleared up. But it's all right. I just wanted to be sure that's what you meant is all. It's all good.:)

thank you for your concern, I am very relaxed in fact, I just wanted to produce the right wording, because if we want to see a big deal being made, go back a page, where everyone got their panties all bunchied up about the word cousin...but then again, now I understand with that version...

Elisabeth = "oath of God"

1) the wife of Zacharias and mother of John the Baptist, of the priestly family, and a relative of Mary, Lk. 1:36

Luke 1:36 and lo, Elisabeth, thy kinswoman, she also hath conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month to her who was called barren;

There is one verse containing the word 'Eliysheba` (Strong's 0472).

Elisheba = "my God has sworn" or "God is an oath"

It looks like the way "brother" is used in the OT is the same way it is used in the NT and why I like going back to the Hebrew to help out with some of the more difficult issues in the NT. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and it didn't help with the Israel having 12 sons through 4 different women making a lot of them "half-brothers" to each other. Peace to you.

(Young) Exodus 4:14 And the anger of Jehovah burneth against Moses, and He saith, `Is not Aaron the Levite thy brother? I have known that he speaketh well, and also, lo, he is coming out to meet thee; when he hath seen thee, then he hath rejoiced in his heart,

'ach (Strong's 0251) occurs 629 times in 572 verses:

AV - brethren 332, brother 269, another 23, brotherly 1, kindred 1,
like 1, another 1, other 1; 629

1) brother
a) brother of same parents
b) half-brother (same father)
c) relative, kinship, same tribe
d) each to the other (reciprocal relationship)
e) (fig.) of resemblance

Tee hee Counsin, relative, bother, cousin..Funny how words can't mean what they say in order to fit mens tradition..When God didn't breathe His word to fit.. Now we have to change words and their meanings to fit mens theology... When if we took God at His word for what it meant we would'n't have this problem..

AMEN! SO well said. That is what I said a few posts back. IF people looked at traditions and see that they are MAN made and there for they could be wrong..that would blow them out of the water. SO sad people can't see Truth for truth.

When tradition and the word disagree, go with the Word.
Tradition has never, disagreed with Scripture. Your interpretation is what is wrong here and somehting even worse?? Historical Context and Translation!!!!

So far Scholars and the Scripture disagree with the translation, it has nothing to do with Tradition it has to do with science and logic!!

I have to go to church and so I will return to give a few examples so that this controvery at least ends in this thread.

Thanks

Santiago

GOOD luck with that. Friend. We have proven that cousin and brother are TWO completely differnet things. Just because some teach as TRUTH that Mary had no other children, doesn't make it right. He had brothers AND sisters FROM Mary.
