  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Yet another "Mary" thread . . . . .

My only claim is in the Lord Jesus and the LORD His Father.

(Young) Acts 2:25 for David saith in regard to him: I foresaw the Lord always before me--because He is on my right hand--that I may not be moved;

Thats not what you said...

You said, "I am an O-C". Which has a meaning, and you have attributed it to yourself.

Forgive me...

Did you not break off from the Catholic church as an Ortodox? The bible states truth.. For God is nothing but Truth.. In Him is no deception.. The bible is God breathed. Therefore in the scripture there is no deception... Only when someone wants to take a hint of truth and put their own understanding to the scriptures do we get error.. Scripture will define Scripture.

Nope. The Church of Antioch existed before The Church of Rome.

Do you think we don't read The Holy Scriptures? Do you then also think that a Church as old as The Church of Antioch is would not understand Christianity?

God has always chosen to reveal Himself in His word.. His word even became flesh and dwelt among us.. God is not a man that He should lie.. The ark of the covenant was Gods presence for the Isrealites... Now His presence came in the form of His only Begotten Son.. Immanuel.. God is with us...

Actually, better yet.
Now it's God IN us!

1 John 4:12
If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

Then study to see if what you believe is indeed truth from Gods word.. Study the Ark of the covenant..

So you analsys is that I have not studied enough? Is that it?

I'm wondering how many of my 8,456 posts you have read to be able to make this determination.

Forgive me...

Are you then saying the CC/Vatican is misrepresenting itself as the "first Church"?

Reve 2:26 And the one conquering, and the one keeping, until finish the acts of Me, I shall be giving to him authority over the Nations.
27 And he shall be sherpherding them in iron rod/staff, as the vessels, the pottery, is being crushed, as also I have obtained beside the Father of Me.
28 And I shall be giving to him the Star, the Morning.

What you forget is that the word adelphos was not spoken in Greek or initially orally retold and recorded in Greek. The words were spoken in ARAMAIC, in which the word used woul have been Ach - which means brother, cousin and any close kinsman. What you are basing your theories on is a TRANSLATION into Greek.

Good Day, Axion

My basis is not a theory, but is grounded in what the Greek text reads. Do you happen to know where a Aramaic text could be accessed. I would like to read the text to see if your assertion has some basis.

In fact if all the people listed as Brothers and Sisters of Jesus were actually siblings, Mary would have had to have had at least SEVEN surviving children after Jesus (meaning about TWENTY babies considering infant mortality at the time)! Strange that NONE of these children appears or hinders Mary and Joseph from dropping everything to chase after Jesus when He is found in the temple at age 12.

We have had this topic discussed before between us before. You presume things which you have yet to prove.

The Jews historically were a very prolific as a race.

Not sure why you think children would be seen as a hinderance, to the Jews they were a blessing.

In Him,

Bill

Yep.

The Church of Jerusalem was established in 33 A.D. with St. James as it's 1st Bishop.

The Church of Antioch was established in 34 A.D. with St. Peter as it's 1st Bishop.

The Church of Constantinople was established in 38 A.D. with St. Andrew as it's 1st Bishop.

The Church of Rome was established in 42 A.D. with St. Peter as it's 1st Bishop.

The Church of Alexandria was established in 43 A.D. with St. Mark as it's 1st Bishop.

Forgive me....

No.;)

Perhaps the doctrine is not important to you. It is to orthodox Christians.

Paint with your own brush... :p

Forgive me...

Good Day, Orthodoxy

You mean "O" rthodox, as compated to orthodox.

Basil

Contrary to what Roman Catholics often suggest, there were many people in the early centuries of Christianity who rejected the doctrine of the perpetual virginity of Mary. Though the doctrine was popular among the later church fathers, there was opposition to it even in those later centuries. The church father Basil commented that the view that Mary had other children after Jesus "was widely held and, though not accepted by himself, was not incompatible with orthodoxy" (J.N.D. Kelly, Early Christian Doctrines [San Francisco, California: HarperCollins Publishers, 1978], p. 495).

This doctrine is important to the "O"rthodox, but is no standard of measure for those who are not of the "O"rthodox denomination. They would still fall with in the realm of those which are orthodox.

Please edit and Cap. the "O". :p

In Him,

Bill

If we were to find the Ark of the Covenant today, would the tablets still be inside? :)

Yes.

It is held and protected by The Ethiopian Orthodox Church.
