In any trioge (sp?) situation, you save the lives you can. In this case (tubal pregnancy), baby (fetus) will die no matter what. You can kill the baby early and save the mother, or you can let things run their course and allow both to die. You save whatever life you can.

If more of the people protesting outside these clinics did more than just shout out to vulnerable women - then maybe we could get some real progress happening.

Wouldn't it be wonderful if we all put actions with our words, and donated a little time or money to help single mothers? Help with the cost of living, help provide affordable caring childcare?

We need some good social programs to take the place of the abortion clinics.

I have had an abortion so I know what it's like to face being alone. I know it very well. And I agree with your comment, we should do more to help mothers in crisis. I for one am lucky, my grandmother left me with a substantial trust fund and I am looking into starting a home for women here where I live. I want to help all I can. I could care less if I have to drive a used car instead of a new car. I'd rather take the extra money and help others. I don't require much in the way of material things to be happy. I'm grateful to have two wonderful children and to be alive.

The root cause of abortion is unwanted pregnancy.

The root cause of unwanted pregnancy is probably impossible to define to everyone's satisfaction, but I would say has a lot to do with the oversexualising of our society as a whole, and the distortion presented by popular music, fashion, soaps and celebrity etc, portraying life as little other than a seedy branch of the sex trade.

This creates an imbalance in the minds of young people in particular, imo, and causes them to regard sexual promiscuity as a norm to aim for, rather than as the exception to normal, temperate, behaviour. Once we get a little older we realise that the promiscuous lifestyle is not normal, nor even particularly attractive. But by then the damage has been done, all too often.

But the church too plays a part in its over repressive attitude to sex, which far too often is regarded with fear and distaste, and not presented as good, beautiful and holy, and to be treated with respect, and with reverence.

I believe that the root cause of abortion is the devaluation of human life. We abort because the mother's rights supercede that of the baby's. We pull the plug on the non-brain dead so life insurance can be collected and new marriages can be made. We euthanize the terminally ill rather than stay by their sides to ease their suffering. We execute the criminal with cheering and glee, all agreeing "Justice has now been served!" We enter war with no solid plan of victory except kill and be killed.

Really, I guess it has always been this way. Why worry about the life of a non-living "it".

You're looking at it from the wrong angle. A pregnant woman who wants to give her baby up for adoption will have no problem finding someone to adopt a newborn. A family looking to adopt may have to wait a long time because they are looking for a particular sex, color, etc. It's not the baby who has to wait...it's the family.

That is also quite alot to ask of a family, for many people there home is there sanctuary. Read Proverbs 6, there it talks about the overextention of ones family and resources, I think alot of christians overlook this. Being charitable is good, giving money, helping at soup kitchens/homeless shelters, etc. But someones home is there inner sanctum. If someone were willing to do that it would be ok but the fact that it is not happening does not warrant judgment. I think people like to bash the church because they make an irrisponsible desicion and expect to be bailed out, its wrong to make that assumption and its wrong to expect outlandish handouts. You have to build alot of trust through friendship before most people are willing to let someone live with them.

I think that is naive to state. Finances play a lagitimate roll in someones decision making. I think abortion is wrong (save the extreme cases of rape or medical complications) and putting the child up for adoption is a much better answer, however, money is a big factor and in this day and time things are getting more and more expensive. I dont know about anyone else but I like to drive a decent reliable vehical that suits the region I live in without being burdened by transportation issues, I like to have a decent place to live with entertainment to keep myself from loosing my mind, I like to have extra money in case of emergency etc, I like to have the resources to take on non trivial life goals (non trivial meaning it take more than a couple of bucks to accomplish ie pilots licence and aircraft purchase). If the child is not wanted how is that going to be on the child growing up in that household (assuming there not homeless because of the financial burden of the child). I would rather see someone use adoption but the fact you played the selfish card shows you dont really care if is put up for adoption or aborted because either of thoes options would be financially selfish.
