CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Well, when you greet too often, people get tired of it, while people are so happy to see greetings are back when they haven't been greeted for a long time.

I thought of you when they mentioned the holiday on the news and that some people had off from school because of it. I remembered last year you remembered having today off from school.

Yup us too. Here in NYC they have no choice but to give us off, because 50% of their teachers would be taking off.

same here, and half the kids would be out, too. It was the same when I was growing up here. We had all the high holy days off. The streets are all blocked off in front of the temples and they all advertise advance tickets for the best temples.

Could you imagine having to buy a ticket to get into church on Pascha
. I could only imagine what a spot in the front would go for. They would probably even charge a hefty fee for my favorite spot in the back corner, I'd end up celebrating Pascha down the basement where they 'll connect a speaker so we could listen to what is going on.

In the Helsinki Cathedral you're supposed to pick up a ticket to get to Pascha. They are free and I haven't heard they would have ever run out. But I think it's more for keeping with fire regulations and occupancy rules etc.
In other news... I have severe sciatica and it's not getting any better. It normally goes away after 2-3 days but now it's on the third day and it's not getting any better. Even coughing hurts. I have some prescription painkillers from prior incidents but they don't work for squat. Doesn't matter what I do, walk, sit, lay down, it still hurts. But my great electricians are here today and they got me lunch when they went out and bring me stuff if I need it. I can limp around but I guess they feel bad. Great guys!
