I myself have really fallen in love with the group I plainly love the groups style. The band is some great atmospheric gothic rock. I especially love the female vocalist, she's very talanted and hot (Italian chicks FTW!!!) So anyways if you like groups like Nightwish, The Gathering, Moonspell, or Evansecense I strongly reccomend you this band. If you haven't already checked out Nightwish, The Gathering, nor Moonspell I'd suggest you get into them too (especially Nightwish)!

Beware of the dark. "even Lucifer poses as an Angel of Light." but sum of these groups you mentioned are blatently anti-Christ. i'm not the judge, but dont be sold so easy by a pretty face. the secular music industry looks at the general public like ignorant cattle lined up for whatever they put in the trough. its called "branding" gimmick w/o substance. art but, no answers. the absence of God's eternal truth and real love of Christ. its called "the spirit of this age" be watchful. guard your heart. ---jeremeycross

^ I'm first of all not religious, and second of all the bands I listed aren't really supposed religious at all. I know that alot of religious people would think Lacuna Coil is anti -christian with songs such as "Heaven's A Lie" by Lacuna Coil for example, but if you actually read the lyrics you can see that there is more depth in what they are saying. For example in the song "Heaven's A Lie" you will see that in saying heaven they are not talking about the bibical one or anything like that but rather your own personal paradise or state of mind. The song "Heaven's A Lie" is a song about a relationship with really no realtion to any religious point of view with the exception of the controversial name. Also keep in mind this is gothic rock so it's no really supposed to be pro-christian in the first place. So don't always see things in black and white nor judge a book by it's cover.

Can't we just appreciate music without having a theological discussion in every thread?

Let me ask you something, what's the title of this section? Is it Christian Music? No. It's Secular Music. So don't bother saying things that have been said a million times before, it does not matter, if people want to listen to what they want to, then they will.

On subject, Lacuna Coil is quite excellent. I never ended up getting any of their albums, but what I have heard from them is awesome. Something new, definitely.

This is the secular music section not "christian" music section. Please calm down, I didn't mean to offend you or sound rude but I just hate it when people go attacking something without all the facts. I respect what you think is right and what christians believe in. I'm not promoting Iwas just checking to see if anybody else liked the group:sigh: and I clearly stated from the beginning that they were "gothic rock" which doesn't sound christian in the first place.

Actually there are Christian gothic rock bands e.g. Saviour Machine and the Awakening.

nothing new under the sun thats 4sure. i've heard their album. girl i dated had it. it's reminds me of marketing without substance. kind of like Jessica Simpson. takes more than goth cloths and slick packegeing. to get past this old soul. if? your into musical substance lets go back to TOOLs "Lateralus." i'm not into per-say the lyrical content. i think Maynerd is a genius! yet, i am a Christian so i do guard my mind and spirit. but musically "the grudge" still smokes anything. that even dares to come close. and isnt that what the worlds about? competitive attitudes, hanging others out to dry "in the name of being kool". i think theology is good medicine. something that might be a good in todays music

if theology is good medicine for today's music in discussion format, then it biased mumbo jumbo just as the liking for the band is biased. we will all find a theology to justify liking them, and we will all find a theology to justify not liking them. pointless rhetoric. i'd say, contact the musicians themselves and give them the idea of putting theology into their music instead of discussin in a thread that wasn't even talking about theology in music.

As a Christian I can say I really love the band Lacuna Coil!:) Ture there is song called Heven a Lie but relax its a medafore for a bad relationship it has nothing to do with a anti-religous statement. I have done my home work on them they seem pretty clean to me. As for gothic rock it self I have to say I do like gothic rock. There are more women in it and Like the female voice and the music sounds cool. True there are bands I think I should aviod in it but If I here some one I like but I am not sure about them for what ever reason I do my research on them you might find more non-christian bands who are clean of santaic stuff and really good. Gothic rock is becomine one more favord types of music and as other already pointed out there are Christian Gothic Rock bands like Savior Machean, Virgin Black, Seven Angels ect.

I was really trying to refrain from this earlier, but there's some genre confusion going on here. Lacuna Coil has pretty much nothing to do with Gothic rock since Gothic rock (or Goth Rock, w/e you want to actually call it) grew out of Punk, not Metal. The style that Lacuna Coil, The Gathering, Moonspell, etc. perform is Gothic Metal, and despite the similar name, the two genres have little to nothing to do with each other. Examples of actual Goth Rock would be the likes of The Sisters Of Mercy, Bauhaus, The Cure, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Gene Loves Jezebel, etc.

Gothic Metal grew out of or takes inspiration from death (or doom-death, as the Wikipedia article says) and black metal. Other Gothic Metal (or Goth Metal) bands would be Sirenia, Tristania, or even Xandria at a stretch. Early Theatre Of Tragedy probably also counts, from what I've read - I've only heard material from after they switched to the Industrial Metal hybrid they currently perform, i.e. their post-2000 stuff. Gothic Metal - particularly the 'Beauty and the Beast' vocal styling - did give rise to the wave of Symphonic Metal that Nightwish or Within Temptation get grouped into, though, but I'd hesitate greatly before lumping them into the category of Gothic Metal also.

poor songwriting, melo-drama and vain worship.
