people that have STDS,AIDS should they be treated the same way even though they kind of did it to themselves

The same way as what? Other people with diseases? People without diseases? People with credit card debt? People with eating dissorders? Everyone else in the world? Terrorists? Theists? Mole people? Come on.

Same as whom?

If they are your friend, treat them as you would any friend. If their disease causes them pain, show them compassion and kindness.

The they-did-it-to-themselves attitude doesn't help anything. I don't think people should be having sex outside marriage, but everyone makes mistakes and what they suffer because of them does not give us any right to look down on them. I especially hope no one blames a person with AIDS for their disease. I don't care *what* they might have done. No one deserves to die a horrible death like that just for having sex or sharing a needle.

Plus, not everyone contracts an STD through their own actions. You can get the HIV virus from many other sources. Never make assumptions about a person or their story.

Treated the same in what way? Medically? Socially? Spiritually? How would you treat them differently? Deny them medical care? Shun them? Kick them out of your church?

Should people who are overweight be treated differently when they get diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiac problems related to their weight? After all they did it to themselves.

Should people who have a variety of smoking related illnesses be treated the same? After all the did it to themselves?

Even if you truly believed someone "deserves" what they get wouldn't it be terribly un Christian to treate people with anything but compassion? How would you ever know if someone just chose to skip the condom or if they were the victim of a sexual assault, a cheating partner or a bad medical procedure with improperly screened human blood or donor tissue used?

Exactly. Some people are overwieght because they are inactive, others are overweight because of illness, or thyriod, or metabolism, or it's just the way they are built. Same with STD's. But does it mean we should discriminate and abuse overweight people or people with STD's? Of course not!

Should people with arthritis be treated differently? After all, if they didn't use their joints as much, they wouldn't have the problem.

How about people with tennis elbow or with carpal tunnel syndrome? How about people with stress-related disorders? Eating disorders? Addictions? How far is this going to go?

Everyone makes mistakes. Sometimes these mistakes results in a broken finger nail, other times, with a tax audit, other times, with an STD.

The aim should be to reduce the tranmission rate of STD's, not to shun people who already have STD's.

The same way as whom?
And why "even though"?
Everything that occurs to anyone they "kind of" did to themselves, if you want to look at it that way.

Unless of course the person got raped or his/her spouse was unfaithful, or any other of several ways to get certain STDs without doing anything wrong.

true, what about if a girl got raped, lost her virginity and got aids? she didn't do anything wrong, but I bet the moment she mentions she has aids people treat her like a dirty permiscuous girl. My best friend has herpes, but I don't treat her any different.
