I got through the McCarthy era, and Nixon, and Reagan's second term when his people betrayed him. So I'm aware of the damage Trump is doing to America, at the same time that I realize it will pass. And future generations will ask "what in the world where you people thinking of?"

It is hard to believe we have fallen so far into quagmire and so many still do not see it, in fact celebrate it.

At the time, many people supported McCarthy. Sometimes it takes repeated abuses to wake people up. Seems to be happening now, but a lot slower than with McCarthy.

Reminds me of Anthony on that Twilight Zone episode. If you don’t grovel you end up on the cornfield.

That episode is on right now. Everyone is afraid of little Anthony. The have to please him, flatter him and always make him happy.
