What always gets me about the global warming theories is that they never mention the world just emerged from a period known as the little ice age and that accurate temperature records have only been kept for a century or so. These two points alone explain a lot of the global warming idea.

A problem with your second point is that there are more methods of determining climate than just some guy staring at a thermometer and making a notation in a logbook. We have methods like dendochronology, ice core sampling, pollen analysis, varves and a dozen others that can determine if a year, even one 100,000 years ago was wet/dry, warm/cold, etc. Because of these other methods of determining historical temperatures, you objection with the Little Ice Age is untennable.

It is undeniable that there is a global warming trend.

It is undeniable that human actions are contributing to this trend.

We don't know the degree of our impact, what would happen without human contributions to global warming.

It seems safe to assume that global warming would happen to some degree without human intervention.

It seems safe to assume that human contributions are accelerating the impacts of global warming.

It seems safe to assume human action to limmit our contributions to global warming would at best only slow a process which is going to happen anyway.

What we need is some sort of global model that takes the best information available and then allows us to study what degree of effort is worthwhile and what degree of effort is not.

So, like, I've always wondered what peoples arguments are against Global Warming? Most scientists agree that it is happening and that we are the cause of it. No one actually knows what the consequences are, though.

I just don't understand the argument that it isn't happening, when science doesn't agree with you? Are people just denying it because Republicans who have stock in oil companies are denying it?

And what, exactly, if it isn't real, is the point of people making it up? Is there some, like, global conspiracy to make people buy energy efficient cars?

ETA: For instance, Al Gore. I'm thuroughly convinced that he's correct about Global Warming, but let's assume the right is right, and he isn't. Why is there so much hatred towards him, due to an Inconvenient truth? I assume that all these people thinks he's wrong and is trying to do something, but what? What exactly is Al Gore's reasoning for lying about Global Warming?

Politicians (especially Republicans IMO) are masters of the false dichotomy otherwise known as the falicy of the excluded middle.

This dichotomy portrays the left as wanting to dismantal western civilization to prevent a global warming trend that would happen anyway. While there may be some on the left fringe who would like to see such a thing, the majority on the left would like us to simply take reasonable steps to mitigate some of our impact on this warming trend. It is a position that is for the most part not even addressed by Republicans.

Yeah but if they mentioned the contradictions to their theories, it would not set them up to be in a position for global control over the worlds population.

About a thousand years ago it was so warm in the northern hemisphere that Vikings colonized Greenland and were able to grow year-round crops (they did name it Greenland, after all). Can't do that now. They also set up colonies in what is now Newfoundland and called it Vinland, indicating it was also warm enough there to cultivate vineyards. It isn't warm enough there today to do that.
Greenland was never "green."

Greenland: Etymology

The name Greenland comes from those Scandinavian settlers. In the Norse sagas, it is said that Erik the Red was exiled from Iceland for murder. He, along with his extended family and slaves, set out in ships to find the land that was rumored to be to the northwest. After settling there, he named the land Grønland ("Greenland") in order to attract more people to settle there. Greenland was also called Gruntland ("Ground-land") on early maps. Whether Green is an erroneous transcription of Grunt ("Ground"), which refers to shallow bays, or vice versa, is not known.

I spent a year in Iceland. The story there is that Iceland had a say in naming both countries. They wanted people to stay away, so they named Greenland to entice people to go there, and they named Iceland to discourage people from visiting. Iceland IS one of the most racist countries on the planet.

I hate to address a straw man but...

Could you cite some of these contradicitons instead of merely alluding to them. This isn't a talk radio show, you can actually provide evidence for your claims. Or are you pulling a YEC like they do with the supposed contradictions regarding evolution?

I had a co-worker some time ago during a particularly cool spring night comment "so much for global warming," to which I replied, "tell it to the glaciers." He didn't get it, and I suspect you won't either...

I've read about country names also.
Is it really racist? Against all nonIcelanders?

More on John Carlisle:

John Carlisle, is the Editor of the newsletters Organization Trends and Foundation Watch published by the conservative think tank, the Capital Research Center. Prior to joining CRC he worked for the National Center for Public Policy Research.

According to his biographical note "John has published op/eds in more than 250 newspapers and authored numerous policy papers covering the environment, education, welfare, crime, legal reform and health care. His work has appeared or been cited in the Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, Chicago Sun-Times, Houston Chronicle, Boston Globe, Christian Science Monitor, US News and World Report, Sun-Sentinel, St. Paul Pioneer Press and CNS News. He has also appeared on Fox News Channel and BBC television. He earned a bachelors degree in political science at North Carolina State University and a masters in political science at Boston College." [1]
Here's something funny...on the Antarctic ice shelf:
In October 1998, the British Antarctic Survey also announced that it had found no evidence of global warming on the continent. The study noted that it did find 3-4°F of warming on the Antarctic Peninsula over the last 50 years, but that there was no evidence that this localized warming was the result of global warming. The scientists believed it more likely that the origins of the warming "could be found in regional mechanisms."

The survey also analyzed the behavior of two major ice shelves, the Ross and Filchner-Ronne shelves, for any retreat. Again, the study concluded that "it is no longer clear that the small warming that is predicted to result from anthropogenic emissions of greenhouse gases is likely to cause a retreat" of those ice shelves. On the more vulnerable West Antarctic Ice Sheet, scientists likewise concluded that the "dramatic vision of a rapid collapse of the West Antarctic Ice Sheet resulting from atmospheric warming is becoming less acceptable."13

And on Greenland:
Like the Antarctic, the Greenland ice sheets show no evidence of receding due to alleged global warming. The record shows that the Arctic region where Greenland is located is cooling despite the fact that, under global warming models, it should be the first area of the planet to show significant temperature increases. According to these models, the polar regions should have warmed 2-5°F since 1940. But between 1955 and 1990, the Arctic cooled by 1°F and Greenland's glaciers actually expanded. According to the scientific journal Geophysical Research Letters, the West Greenland Ice Sheet, the largest mass of polar ice in the Northern Hemisphere, has thickened by up to seven feet since 1980.17

Hmm...let's look at what our news articles say.
Greenland ice-melt 'speeding up'

"We can say for certain that the rate of melting has increased and we can say for certain that the height of the ice-sheet is falling, even allowing for increased ice-flow.
Greenland is Melting Faster

NASA's Grace Earth observation satellite has created the first, comprehensive survey of the entire Greenland ice sheet. The spacecraft found that the volume of ice is decreasing by 162 cubic kilometres per year (39 cubic miles), which is higher than all previously published estimates. This ice melt is contributing 0.4 millimeters (.016 inches) per year to global sea level rise. Grace was also able to measure detailed changes in the surface of the sea floor after the Sumatran earthquake and resulting tsunami that happened almost a year ago.

Antarctic ice shelf breaks apart

An Antarctic ice shelf that was 200 metres thick and had a surface area of 3,250 square kilometres has broken apart in less than a month.

UK scientists say the Larsen B shelf on the eastern side of the Antarctic Peninsula has fragmented into small icebergs.
Antarctic Ice Sheet Is Melting Rapidly

The Antarctic ice sheet is losing as much as 36 cubic miles of ice a year in a trend that scientists link to global warming, according to a new paper that provides the first evidence that the sheet's total mass is shrinking significantly.
I guess that's what happens when you decide to post from a political source, I'm sure he had a whale of a time cherry picking the sources he wanted to use for that article. ;)

Oh and all the information presented is misleading because… your environmentalist propaganda machines say it is? Yeah, Wikipedia, it’s there so it’s gotta be real. The report link presented is not one mans opinion, it’s sources are well noted. The fact is, global warming IS POLITICAL! But not by those that have debunked it, it’s a means to an end for those that want your baby, it’s a part of Mystery Babylon.

 Now I really have no idea what you're talking about.
It’s just a deception, smoke and mirrors, an old lie that prevails to this day, a lie to enslave the people of this earth by the powers and principalities behind the scenes at work. Mystery Babylon, as mentioned in Christian Prophecy(Rev 17:5), it’s what is at work and is unseen by those that are not Children of God by his adoption. To say it is Mystery Babylon is to say that it is above the power to control or understanding of man, that it’s propagated by the great liar whom slithered in the garden at the time of Adam and Eve. This Mystery Babylon is many systems of a hidden truth which is deception from it’s core and it was so very well demonstrated by Nimrod (Gen 10:8) that displayed the true nature and intent of the system through man, a system that is still in motion today and ever increasingly securing its grasp upon humanity.

Please stop using biblical verse just because you refuse to believe in science. What's worse is when people use biblical verse to further some political agenda. You tried to play the science game, that was quickly knocked down, so you resorted to using the Bible, bad form.

As to your rants about Mystery Babylon's dingos taking babies, I'll leave that for the lurkers to decide the veracity of.

Knocked down? More wild claims on your behalf. And btw, science and the bible go hand in hand, one can take the bible literally with such an interpretation being in full harmony with true science. Unfortunately, not all science is truly science but as you say, political. It takes blind faith to believe what some scientists try to spoon out, it’s simply a demented religion no doubt and many scientists fear excommunication from their religion of science to break ranks and really produce truth as much as can be known. Mainstream Science is religion and politics merged and nothing more.
