I have a problem with fear, this is no surprise to me. I have to work hard to trust the Lord and put my faith in him because the devil WILL take whatever he can get when it comes to fear. Today I did a foolish thing and intentionally read something that would freak me out. Man, the devil opened the door and just came right in. I was tortured with sickening fear. I felt awful, I couldn't even focus I was so disturbed and distressed.
Thankfully, the devil cannot linger where the name of Jesus is spoken so I rebuked the fear and whatever spirits were attached to it. I'm at peace now but it was just a reminder that Satan is always at work, always waiting for a foot hold, a chance to jump in and mess us up.
One thing that my mom always made sure I understood growing up was the sheer power of the name of Jesus. Whenever life is too much, whenever I feel I'm being buried, whenever I'm terrified, I just say his name.
And I like to remind the devil that I belong to Jesus. I may slip up sometimes but I still belong to Jesus Christ our Lord. So he may get a foot hold every now and then, but he sure ain't keeping it!
