What the Heck?

What the Heck?
I work in a cubicle environment which I don't mind so much. I really love working with 99.9% of the people around me and enjoy the "open" environment so we can talk or help eachother easily.

However, my cube neighbor is kind of different. I don't dislike her, but our personalities couldn't be more different and I just don't "get" her.

For instance, my team leader called me at 8:30 this morning because he wanted to know if another one of our co-workers had made it in yet (the other co-worker's desk is across from me) because he wanted to ask him if he had heard that the local "gentlemen's club" got raided last night. Anyway, my team leader and I talked for a little bit and joked around and then I hung up. Said cube neighbor immediately asked, "Who in the world is calling you this early in the day?!"

Wha?! I would never think to invade her privacy to ask who was calling her at any point in the day. It just wouldn't occur to me. I just thought that was strange. I almost felt like I had moved back in with my parents for a minute.

We also have this "call tree" thing at work where if something goes wrong everyone calls certain lists of other people to let them know...it's for use in emergency situations and stuff like that. Well, the other day our secretary came through and handed me a card with people on my team's phone numbers on it and told me that I'm my team leader's back-up for the call tree exercise. I had no idea about it, so I just said OK and put the card away...but cube neighbor said, "What?! I thought I was his backup!" :help:

I guess I'm just too used to working with all guys or something because the guys don't pry about my phone conversations or display jealousy about being someone's backup for a drill that happens about once a year.
