On Dogs and Kennels
I really hate it when I have to board my dogs, but they aren't exactly low maintenance, so it's necessary sometimes.
I'm pretty particular about where I'll take them. Their vet's office offers boarding, but they have a few fairly nice runs (indoor/outdoor, heated/cooled) and a few that are half the size of those and only indoor. It would be OK if they could guarantee me a big one, but they won't do that. They do it on first come, first served and you pay the same for either type. That just won't do. I can't stand the idea of my girls being cooped up in an area that small.
So then I started taking them to another kennel where all the runs are indoor/outdoor, heated/cooled and owners are on the premises. It's very nice, but it's in a town that's about 30-45 minutes from my house. That's very inconvenient and when they went up on their rates, I decided not to take them there anymore.
So now I've been taking them to another kennel that's indoor/outdoor, heated/cooled and owners are on the premises. It's still probably 25-30 minutes away from my house, but it's a couple of dollars cheaper than the previous one and not so far away. It's been working out fine, but when I picked them up from my Thanksgiving vacation the lady came outside and said, "Are you here to pick up your hellions?" I couldn't believe she said that to me! First of all, it's "hellion" because only one of my dogs is a trouble maker! Second of all, I was about to pay her nearly $80. She could pretend she likes my dogs!
