In the panhandle of Idaho each year when the first snow falls usually around Christmas time, it is followed by a great shinook wind that comes and blows away all the snow leaving the ground dry and brown.
As the shinook blows you can see tumbling tumbleweeds blowing in the wind rolling down the streets of town. If you watch them they roll around until finally getting caught up on some fence. Every year in the spring you see landowners cleaning up the row of tumbleweeds along the fence.
Many people's lives are like those tumbleweeds. They let the circumstances blow them around without purpose or goal getting caught up in the problems of life.
They come upon problems too big for them to handle and stop dead in their tracks unable to move forward.
The bible tells us that God has a different plan for us. Jer 29:11 11 For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
He has good things planned for you. He has a purpose for good.
I like the NIV version: 11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
You see all the things of God's creation like the oceans, the sun, the moon and the stars were created with you in mind.
His are the cattle on a thousand hills.
If you will allow God to do a work in your life and heart He will bring you to hope and a future. Don't get caught up in the problems of the world, or tossed to and fro by every wisp of the wind. Let the healing hand of Jesus touch your broken heart and heal you.
