"And no one calls on Your name and awakens and bestirs himself to take and keep hold of You; for You have hidden Your face from us and have delivered us into the [consuming] power of our iniquities." (Isaiah 64:7 AMPC)
God expects us to chase after Him. He is looking forward to see a generation of people that will deny everything else and just focus on knowing Him. Unfortunately for us, we are a people seeking Him for the sake of the goodies. This unwholesome pursuit of God can even make us to travel across lands and seas. In Jesus' time, the people pursue Him because of bread. (John 6:26-27). We are not in any way different from them, we pursue God because we heard or understand that He can meet our sensual need. We are a people that want to 'use' God to meet our needs, then go our way to consume them on our passions. We will possibly return to Him when the supply is exhausted. This is a consumption driven generation. God desires that we become a people that chase after Him, not first and foremost because of what we stand to gain from Him. He wants to be our greatest possession. He wants to belong to us and wants us to belong to Him alone. Only few found this path of glory and honour, will you also like to know God at a deeper level?
ACTION PLAN: There is need for you to reflect on your relationship with God. Why are you serving Him? Are you doing so because of what you can get from Him? I beseech you, by the mercy of God, to be honest in your appraisal and make necessary adjustments.
PRAYER: Lord, reveal my intention for serving you to me. Open my eyes to see my reasons for running after you.
