Learning to love me after being emotionally and mentally abused and brainwashed that I was unloveable has taken a large amount of energy and work. It was important for me to use the logical part of my brain rather than the feeling part of my emotions. That has been a tough process because my feelings didn't line up with my logic. It was easier to 'feel' than to think with evidence.
All of this also impacted my spiritual life as well. If I was unloveable, how could Jesus love me? So deep inside I believed that He couldn't love me - I was just too bad.
Someone asked me, "Where is the evidence to support your belief?" That's a great question. Where was the evidence to support that I'm unloveable? Initially I thought that my parents didn't love me, and told me I was unloveable - so that must mean that evidence was clear. But as I kept looking, the evidence showed that I had friends who cared about me. I've had people tell me that they loved me - both online and offline. Scripture shows evidence that I'm loved as well. John 3:16 - God so loved 'Kristen' that He gave His only begotten son, that 'Kristen' beleives in Him and shall not perish but have everlasting life.
maybe you feel unloveable. But where is the evidence? Just because some humans who were supposed to love you didn't do so or they told you that you weren't wanted or loved. The truth is God loves each and everyone of us. He knows everything about us - all the screw ups and still He loves us.
Ephesians 1:11-12:
In him we were also chosen, having been predestined according to the plan of him who works out everything in conformity with the purpose of his will, in order that we, who were the first to put our hope in Christ, might be for the praise of his glory.
Acts 17:28:
‘For in him we live and move and have our being.’ As some of your own poets have said, ‘We are his offspring.'
Jeremiah 31:3
“I have loved you with an everlasting love; I have drawn you with unfailing kindness.
Matthew 10:29-31:
Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don’t be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.
