Hello again! So I was not planning to turn this blog into a poetry blog, and I don't think I will necessarily, though it may pop up now and again. I posted tonight in the Praise section about how I suddenly find myself able to write poetry again after many years of nothing, and I believe it is all thanks to God for strengthening me and re-awakening joy within me like there hasn't been in a while.
Anyway in light of the fact that tonight I can't seen to get anything done without eventually diving for my notebook because something just hit me, I thought I would share some faith poetry here.
This one I wrote and posted on CF back in 2011, the first and only time I wrote faith-based poetry, and probably one of the last poems I wrote. It's funny looking back at this one, seeing how I was questing them, but also seeing how much more doubtful I was. Still I am rather fond of this little drabble.

Father
In the silence do you hear me?
Reach your arm across the wide divide
I am here in silence, in darkness
waiting for your light to shine
In the darkness can you see me?
See me eyes cast upwards
Longing to meet your gaze
Hoping for your loving touch
In confusion do you understand me?
My whole mind laid open
Even when I am lost
I look for your guidance
In storms, are you my rock?
Solid ground beneath my feet
When everything is turning
I seek your stillness
Up there, do you wait for me?
With the open arms of a father
When my sands of time run out
I will come to you.
Now this one I wrote tonight. I've been seeing so many posts around CF of people struggling with very real, serious issues and worries, people feeling lost, worthless, cornered, and very broken. There are times I've moved through those things, and I've been in pits of despair. I may be there again at some point. So I wrote this for all those out there on CF that are struggling alone. May you find peace and strength. In the silence do you hear me?
Reach your arm across the wide divide
I am here in silence, in darkness
waiting for your light to shine
In the darkness can you see me?
See me eyes cast upwards
Longing to meet your gaze

With the open arms of a father
When my sands of time run out
I will come to you.
You may think that it's all over
you may think you've gone to far
or maybe done too little, not enough at all
You may think that you are broken
shattered far beyond repair
But there are things we cannot see
our future, our path, our destiny
ANd there is a force that beckons thee
to rise up and be free
We're all pieces in a jigsaw puzzle
with a picture we're too close to see
But He who sees the picture
can bring us together beautifully
So you may think that you're alone
Tossed by storms, by waves, by winds
Adrift in a desolate ocean
With ne'er land in sight
But just beyond the next wave
is a hand reaching out for you
You've only got to believe
And reach out your hand too.
So...this one is inspired by my reading of Ecclesiastes which is proving to be one of several books I really like. He makes a lot of sense.you may think you've gone to far
or maybe done too little, not enough at all
You may think that you are broken
shattered far beyond repair
But there are things we cannot see
our future, our path, our destiny
ANd there is a force that beckons thee

Adrift in a desolate ocean

You've only got to believe
And reach out your hand too.
There is a time to obey
and a time to cry
a time to be held
and a time to hold on
times we don't see
or have seen too much
times we must work
and times we can rest
but through all of these times
we are always in his hands
And last but not least, this came to me downstairs in the laundry room a few minutes ago:and a time to cry
a time to be held
and a time to hold on
times we don't see
or have seen too much
times we must work
and times we can rest
but through all of these times
we are always in his hands
Take heart, the war's not over
take heart, He's won the world
Take heart, and keep your courage
stand strong, He's on your side
Your story isn't over
The ending's not what you think
So take heart, let Him take over
and lead you to victory
take heart, He's won the world
Take heart, and keep your courage
stand strong, He's on your side
Your story isn't over
The ending's not what you think
So take heart, let Him take over
and lead you to victory
