Notes: Daniel 11:17 To Daniel 11:37

*Daniel 11:17 / *Dan. 11:17 -

(Re: A *Baath *pun?)

The original Hebrew word "bath" (daughter) in Daniel 11:17 could include a pun on "Baath", like how, for example, God employs a pun in Jeremiah 1:11-12 between "shaqed" (almond tree) and "shaqad" (hasten). And He employs a Hebrew pun in Amos 8:2 between "qyts" (summer fruit) and "qts" (the end).

(See the "War" section of Revelation 13:5 below)

~

(Re: Is not a different word, "beth", the Hebrew for "daughter"?)

Per Strong's Concordance and Hebrew Dictionary, the original Hebrew word in Daniel 11:17 translated as "daughter" is "bath" (H1323).

~

In Daniel 11:17 the original Hebrew word (yashar: H3477) translated as "upright ones" can refer to something being physically "straight" (Ezekiel 1:7,23). In the military context of Daniel 11:17, the image of things being "upright" (English) and "straight" (Hebrew) brings to mind large missiles standing upright, ready to fire. So when Daniel 11:17 says: "He shall also set his face to enter with the strength of his whole kingdom, and upright ones with him", this could mean (antitypically) that the future Antichrist's precursor (who could be an Iraqi Baathist general) will bring his entire military force, including mobile, large-missile systems, into Egypt when he defeats and occupies it.

Regarding the rest of Daniel 11:17, when it says: "he shall give him the daughter", the original Hebrew word translated as "daughter" is "bath" (H1323). So Daniel 11:17 could mean (antitypically) that after defeating and occupying Egypt, the future Antichrist's precursor will give Egypt a Baathist government, made up of local Egyptian leaders whose views are (or will have become) in line with Baathism. When Daniel 11:17 refers to the Antichrist's precursor "corrupting her", this could mean that he will give the Egyptian Baathist government's leaders large bribes to remain submissive to him. But when Daniel 11:17 says: "she shall not stand on his side, neither be for him", this could mean that the new, well-bribed Egyptian Baathist government will nonetheless assert its independence from him, possibly due in part to secret, even larger bribes handed out by Western and Arab Gulf states, along with a promise of their military support if the new Egyptian government comes under attack by the Antichrist's precursor for disobeying him.

--

*Daniel 11:18 / *Dan. 11:18 -

The original Hebrew word (cherpah: H2781) translated as "reproach" can mean "shame" (Daniel 12:2). In the case of Daniel 11:18, it can mean the shame of military defeat. So Daniel 11:18 can mean (in a future, antitypical fulfillment) that after the Antichrist's precursor militarily defeats and occupies Israel and Egypt (Daniel 11:15-17), he will continue on across North Africa defeating Libya and Tunisia, until he is defeated, possibly by Algeria (with Western air support).

~

In Daniel 11:18 the original Hebrew word ('iy: H0339) translated as "isles" can refer to "coasts" (Strong's Hebrew Dictionary), and so can refer to countries along the coasts of North Africa.

--

*Daniel 11:19 / *Dan. 11:19 -

This could mean (antitypically) that after his defeat in Algeria, the future Antichrist's precursor could try to return quickly to Iraq (to forestall a rival from taking-over there), only to disappear permanently, possibly during a huge sandstorm in Libya. This storm could be whipped up by Satan himself (compare the deadly windstorm which Satan himself whipped up in Job 1:19), in order to kill the Antichrist's precursor, and so clear the way for the rising up of the Antichrist himself (Daniel 11:21).

(See the "Career" section of Revelation 13:5 below)

--

*Daniel 11:20 / *Dan. 11:20 -

This could have been typically fulfilled during the reign of Seleucus IV.

--

*Daniel 11:21-31 / *Dan. 11:21 -

This could have been typically fulfilled during the reign of Antiochus IV Epiphanes.

(See Daniel 11:31 below)

~

In an antitypical fulfillment, it could be the future Antichrist "to whom they shall not give the honour of the kingdom" (Daniel 11:21).

That is, Daniel 11:21 would be in line with some top Arab politician or bureaucrat, such as from Lebanon, being given control of a future, Baathist federation of Iraq, Syria (which could temporarily administer a "United Palestine", that is, a completely defeated and occupied Israel), and Egypt. His not being given the "honour of the kingdom" could mean that he will be given only pro-tempore control.

That he will "obtain the kingdom by flatteries" (Daniel 11:21b) could mean that he will obtain permanent control via huge bribes paid to the Iraqi Baathist generals who will have put the federation together by force of arms.

The Antichrist could personally afford to give huge bribes because he could currently be a billionaire who runs a worldwide construction company with huge projects around the world, even in the U.S. (such as in Las Vegas). And he could currently be constantly travelling and making long stays in hotels around the world to oversee these projects, as well as making personal contacts with very powerful people in the countries where his projects are located. He could also enter Lebanese politics at some point (if he has not already) as a top politician or powerful bureaucrat. Compare how Trump, the wealthy, global construction magnate eventually decided to enter politics. Indeed, the Antichrist could even see Trump's success in politics as a sign from God (the Antichrist's God, who is Satan) that now is the time for him to enter (or to raise his profile in) Arab politics, in Lebanon, as a Baathist (like how the Syrian government is Baathist, and Iraq could soon be taken back by the Iraqi Baathists via a coup d'etat, with secret Western engagement, such as by large numbers of Western special forces dressed in Iraqi uniforms).

Regarding the Antichrist possibly having construction projects in Las Vegas, a horrible possibility is that the mass-slaughter there not long ago was managed by Satan himself (through the mentally-unstable shooter) to give power to the Antichrist, through, in effect, a mass of human sacrifices, killed (in effect by Satan) on behalf of the Antichrist, who could have been staying right there in Las Vegas at the time, possibly even in the same hotel as the shooter, in a top penthouse suite from where he looked down on the slaughter with a grin. (It should be noted that the slaughter could have been even worse than what occurred. For the shooter also shot at huge tanks of jet fuel which were nearby the concert grounds, hoping that they would explode into a cataclysm. But their steel walls were too think to penetrate with his bullets from his position, thank God. Either it was God who thwarted the full plan of Satan in this instance, or Satan held back to protect the Antichrist from shrapnel and blast waves from the exploding tanks.)

*Daniel 11:22-23 / *Dan. 11:22 / *Dan. 11:23 -

In a future, antitypical fulfillment of Daniel 11:22-23, it can refer to two different future leaders: the Antichrist and an ultra-Orthodox Jewish false "Messiah" in Jerusalem. That is, Daniel 11:22-23 can mean: "with the arms of a flood [an overwhelming armed attack] shall they [the ultra-Orthodox Jews in Jerusalem] be overflown from before him [the Antichrist], and shall be broken [defeated]; yea, also the prince of the covenant [an ultra-Orthodox Jewish false "Messiah" claiming to rule under the Old Covenant Mosaic law]. And after the league made with him [the ultra-Orthodox Jewish false "Messiah", cf. Daniel 9:26a] he [the Antichrist] shall work deceitfully: for he shall come up, and shall become strong with a small people".

This "small people" could be the numerically-small Druze Arab people (of whom the future Antichrist could be one), and/or the numerically-small, yet very powerful, Gnostic Luciferians, also called Satanists (of whom the Antichrist is one), who are networked by a worldwide secret society, and who currently hold some very high positions of power in the world's top corporations, banks, intelligence agencies, federal law enforcement agencies, military branches, and the executive, legislative, and judicial branches of the world's governments. While some of these people may already be in the highest positions, many could be strategically placed in the number-two and/or number-three positions, so that they can quickly take control when the future Antichrist (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast) comes into worldwide power (Revelation 13:7-18), by them murdering those who are now in the highest positions (such as by lacing their coffees with drugs which cause heart attacks, but which leave no residue detectable in autopsies).

(See also Daniel 9:26 above, and the "Druze" section of Revelation 13:4 below. Also, see the "Cabal" section of Revelation 13:5 below)

*Daniel 11:24 / *Dan. 11:24 -

Regarding "he shall scatter among them the ... riches", the original Hebrew word (hem: H1992) translated as "them" does not mean "his followers" (NIV), but can be translated as: "how many soever they be" (2 Samuel 24:3). And this can be what "his fathers have not done", that is, distribute the extreme, hoarded oil wealth of the kings, sheikhs, and innumerable princes of the Arab Gulf states ("the fattest places") to all of the Arab masses, from Oman to Morocco, most of whom are poor. In this way, the future (Baathist/Socialist/Arab) Antichrist could make all of the Arab masses his devoted followers, so that he becomes the supreme leader and founder of a future, truly-federal, United Arab States, stretching from Oman to Morocco, as the first step of his eventual world takeover in Revelation 13:7-18.

(See also the "Career" and "War" sections of Revelation 13:5 below)

~

(He shall forecast his devices against the strong holds)

This could refer to the future Antichrist sending missiles against some Arab areas (such as in Yemen) holding out (with Iranian help) against joining his United Arab States.

--

*Daniel 11:30 / *Dan. 11:30 -

The ships of Chittim in Daniel 11:30 could refer antitypically to ships of the huge U.S. Navy, which by that time in our future could have established, under an agreement with the U.K., a major U.S. naval base on Cyprus.

(See Daniel 11:40 below)

~

The holy covenant which the future Antichrist will have indignation against, and which his Jewish quislings in Jerusalem will have forsaken (Daniel 11:30b), would be the still-holy Old Covenant Mosaic law (Romans 7:12), which many unbelieving Jews in Jerusalem have forsaken in their desire to be free from any religious control over their lives. The way that the Antichrist could corrupt these Jews by flatteries (Daniel 11:32) could be to teach them that they are God, and so can do as they please, in the sense of the "New Age" teaching that all humans are God, and should not bind themselves by any religious rules, or concepts such as "sin". Of course, the Antichrist, even if he teaches this, will still insist that everyone worship him (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast"), and worship Lucifer (Satan, the dragon) (Revelation 13:4-8, Revelation 12:9), whom the Antichrist could present to the world as (what he could call) "the highest and most perfect manifestation of the God Consciousness of which all humans are also a part".

But there will be some non-Christian, elect Jews (whether ultra-Orthodox or not) who will not fall under the Antichrist's spell, and so they will refuse to worship him, or his image, or receive his mark on their right hand or forehead, thereby escaping the eternal damnation which will be the price of doing these things (Revelation 14:9-11). And some of these non-Christian, elect Jews will escape the death sentence from the Antichrist for refusing to worship his image (Revelation 13:15), by either hiding from him, or by being protected by God's future, Two Witnesses (of Revelation 11:3-5), so that they will all still be alive at Jesus Christ's future, Second Coming, when He will destroy the Antichrist (2 Thessalonians 2:8, Revelation 19:20), and save all of them (Romans 11:26-31, Zechariah 12:10-14).

*Daniel 11:31 / *Dan. 11:31 -

(*Abomination of desolation / *AOD)

(See Matthew 24:15 below)

Regarding the "abomination of desolation", Daniel 11:31 was typically fulfilled by the abomination of desolation in 1 Maccabees 1:54, which occurred in the holy place (the inner sanctum) of the second Jewish temple in Jerusalem in the time of Antiochus IV Epiphanes. But per Jesus Christ's statement in Matthew 24:15, the Church will see the abomination of desolation in Daniel 11:31 fulfilled (antitypically) in the future when the Church will see the abomination of desolation stand in the holy place (of a future, third Jewish temple in Jerusalem). This future abomination of desolation could be a standing, android image of the Antichrist (Revelation 13:15) which his followers ("they") will put in the holy place of the temple (Daniel 11:31) to be worshipped (Revelation 13:15), after they have stopped the daily Mosaic animal sacrifices which the ultra-Orthodox Jews will have restarted in front of the temple (Daniel 11:31). This image will pollute the holy place of the temple (Daniel 11:31).

The Antichrist will then fulfill Daniel 11:36 and 2 Thessalonians 2:4 by sitting himself (at least one time) in the temple and proclaiming himself God. By the power of Satan (the dragon, Revelation 12:9), the Antichrist (the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast") will then rule and be worshipped by all of the nations of the earth for 3.5 literal years (Revelation 13:4-18), and will physically overcome Biblical Christians (not in hiding) in every nation (Revelation 13:7-10, Revelation 14:12-13, Revelation 20:4-6, Matthew 24:9-13).

Also, from the day on which (antitypically) "the daily sacrifice shall be taken away, and the abomination that maketh desolate set up, there shall be 1,290 days. Blessed is he that waiteth, and cometh to the 1,335 days" (Daniel 12:11-12, Revelation 16:15). Also, because the future Antichrist will fulfill Daniel 11:31 antitypically (Matthew 24:15), and will fulfill Daniel 11:36 for the first and only time (2 Thessalonians 2:4), he will also fulfill all of Daniel 11:21-45 (the first part antitypically, and the rest for the first and only time) when he arises on the world stage. For that passage refers to the career of the same man. And since the Antichrist will fulfill all of Daniel 11:21-45 when he arises on the world stage, then just preceding his arising on the world stage, Daniel 11:13-19 could be fulfilled antitypically by a future, Iraqi Baathist General (the Antichrist's precursor) who will defeat and occupy Israel and Egypt with a huge Iraqi Army (Daniel 11:15-17; in verse 17 the original Hebrew word translated as "daughter" is "bath").

(Daily)

In Daniel 11:31, like in Daniel 12:11 and Daniel 8:11-13, the original Hebrew word (tamiyd: H8548) translated as "daily" refers to the daily, morning and evening lamb sacrifices of the Old Covenant Mosaic law (Exodus 29:38-42, Numbers 28:3-8; 1 Chronicles 16:40). This is why Daniel 9:27 refers to the "sacrifice" (zebach: H2077) ceasing, and why Daniel 8:11-13 is referred to as the vision of "the evening and the morning" (Daniel 8:26), and why the original Hebrew words (`ereb: H6153; and boqer: H1242) translated as the single word "days" in Daniel 8:14 mean "evenings" and "mornings" in reference to the evening and morning lamb sacrifices.

See section 2 of Daniel 11:30 above.

*Daniel 11:33-35 / *Dan. 11:33 -

This refers to the persecution of people in the Church (not in hiding) throughout the world during the second half of the future Tribulation of Revelation chapters 6 to 18 and Matthew 24 (Revelation 13:7-10, Revelation 14:12-13, Revelation 20:4, Matthew 24:9-13), immediately after which Tribulation, Jesus Christ will return and gather together (rapture) the Church (Matthew 24:29-31; 2 Thessalonians 2:1-8; 1 Thessalonians 4:15-17, Revelation 19:7 to 20:6).

~

(Re: Will the Church be refined for it to be reconciled back to God?)

Note that refining does not require a subsequent reconciling back to God. That is, someone who is already reconciled to God (1 John 1:9) can still be further refined (Philippians 3:12).

*Daniel 11:36-39 / *Dan. 11:36 / *Dan. 11:38 -

(God of forces)

Daniel 11:36-39 refers to the future Antichrist, who will declare himself God above all gods (2 Thessalonians 2:4), except for "the God of forces" (Daniel 11:38), who is Lucifer (Satan) the dragon, "the god of this world" (2 Corinthians 4:4). Lucifer will be consciously and openly worshipped by the non-Christian world as the God who is giving power to the Antichrist, the individual-man aspect of Revelation's "beast" (Revelation 13:4-18, Revelation 12:9; 2 Thessalonians 2:9). The Antichrist could say that he is the human/divine Son of Lucifer, one God with Lucifer, and empowered by Lucifer, just as for Biblical Christians, Jesus Christ is the human/divine Son of YHWH God the Father (John 3:16,36), one God with the Father (John 1:1,14, John 10:30, John 20:28), and empowered by the Father (John 14:10).

*Daniel 11:37 / *Dan. 11:37 -

(Re: Means that the Antichrist will be homosexual?)

While the future Antichrist could secretly be homosexual, this is not what "nor the desire of women" in Daniel 11:37 means. Instead, it means that the Antichrist will not worship the god whom women desire to worship (cf. Ezekiel 8:14b).

While homosexuality is not considered so deviant anymore in Western countries, it is still considered very deviant and shameful in Arab countries.

The Antichrist could be an Arab from Tyre, Lebanon (Ezekiel 28:2, cf. 2 Thessalonians 2:4). If he is, and if he is homosexual, then he will have to keep this a secret in order to be able to take over the Arab countries (in the first stage of his world takeover). For the Arab countries would never follow a leader who is known to be homosexual.

~

(Re: Means that the Antichrist will be Jewish?)

The God of the Antichrist's fathers (Daniel 11:37) could be contrasted with the true God of gods (YHWH) in Daniel 11:36, just as Joshua 24:14-15 contrasts "the gods which your fathers served" with the true God YHWH. That is, nothing in Daniel 11:37 requires that it is referring to the God of the Israelites' patriarchal fathers (YHWH) (Exodus 3:15).

Also, "fathers" (Daniel 11:37) in the Bible can refer to non-Jewish fathers. For example, Exodus 10:6 refers to the Egyptian Pharaoh's fathers.

The Antichrist could be an Arab. So his fathers' God whom he will not regard (Daniel 11:37) could be Allah, the God of Islam, who has been the God of almost all of the Arabs for some 1,300 years.

None of the other "God of his fathers" verses in the Bible contradict that Daniel 11:37 could refer to the God of the Antichrist's Arab fathers. Also, all of those other verses specify "YHWH" God in the Hebrew, while Daniel 11:37 does not. Also, the context of all of those other verses makes clear that they are either specifically addressing, or referring to, Israelites, while nothing in Daniel 11:37 or its context contradicts that it can be referring to an Arab.

That is, both of the Antichrist's...

(See "parents could be Arabs" under the "Dan - tribe" section of Revelation 13:4 below)

(Re: You did not provide a single Bible-verse example of "God of his Fathers" pertaining to a non-Israelite)

Note that there does not have to be any other instance besides Daniel 11:37. For your argument is like the argument of full preterism which claims that the "elements" in 2 Peter 3:10,12 cannot be physical, because all of the other verses in the Bible where the original Greek word "stoicheion" (G4747) is used, refer to non-physical elements. The truth is that the "elements" in 2 Peter 3:10,12 can be the only place in the Bible where "stoicheion" is used to refer to physical elements, just as, for example, Revelation 6:6 can be (and in fact is) the only place in the Bible where the Greek word "choinix" (G5518) is used at all. Similarly, Daniel 11:37 can be the only place in the Bible where "God of his fathers" is used to refer to the "God" of a non-Israelite, in the sense of the Antichrist being an Arab, and the God of his Arab fathers being Allah, the God of Islam.
