Preface

It is okay to read these notes just a little at a time, such as only half a blog post per day, each blog post being about 20k, or 4,000 words. For too much at one time might be like trying to eat a bouillon cube. For these notes are distilled down from over a decade of Bible discussions on this forum, and others. Take these notes as slowly as you need to in order to truly absorb them, and to look up and consider every Bible-verse reference (in the KJV) before moving on. For there is no hurry: "He that believeth shall not make haste" (Isaiah 28:16b).

Also, because each blog post is at least 20k, or 4,000 words, if you do not find the first entry of a blog post to be interesting, be sure to scroll down through the rest of the blog post to see if you might find some of its subsequent entries to be interesting.

Also, you can copy and paste-together all of the blog posts of these notes into a single text file on your hard drive, using Notepad. The file will be about 2.7 MB, and you can use it to quickly do a global search of these notes, not only for a specific Bible-verse entry, but also for various Bible subjects. For example, to find notes on the future, third Jewish temple in Jerusalem, you can search the text file for "*Temple" (note the star before the word), and it will take you to *Revelation 11:1. Also, to look for a specific Bible-verse entry, you can abbreviate the verse reference. For example, to look for the entry for Revelation 11:1, you can search simply for "Rev. 11:1" (note that no star is needed), and it will take you to that entry. For, in the blog, verse references are only abbreviated where their entry is located.

But these notes are being continually updated. (See the bottom of each blog post, not the top, for when the last update of each blog post was made.) So if you do make a text file of this blog on your hard drive, be sure to check back here every couple of months or so for any additions or changes which might have been made. Some (not all) of the additions or changes will also hopefully, eventually be repeated in the "Latest Changes" post at the end of this blog.

Also, you will notice that these notes focus almost exclusively on the KJV Bible, and, with regard to the New Testament, on the Textus Receptus Greek text on which the KJV NT is based. The transliterated references to original Greek and Hebrew words (and their word numbers) come from Strong's Concordance and Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries (which are tied to the KJV and Textus Receptus). For example, the reference to "(anastasis: G0386)" under *Revelation 20:5 below means that "anastasis" is word number 386 in Strong's Greek Dictionary. Similarly, the reference to "(shamayim: H8064)" under *Genesis 1:1 below means that "shamayim" is word number 8064 in Strong's Hebrew Dictionary.

Strong's Concordance and Greek and Hebrew Dictionaries are a great resource which every Christian should obtain in their print version. Electronic versions can contain many (not useful) alterations, as well as errors. So everything should be checked against the print version. But electronic versions (such as that available for free from Theophilos.sk), along with electronic versions of the KJV itself with Strong's Hebrew or Greek Word numbers after each KJV word (also available for free from Theophilos.sk), are very helpful in searching for every use of a particular Hebrew or Greek word in the original-Hebrew or original-Greek text on which the KJV is based.

Also, a link to other useful Greek dictionaries is found in section 2 of *Revelation 6:1-2 below. And Select a chapter is a great resource when you need to know the tense, number, mood, etc., of a Greek word used in a particular verse of the New Testament.

Other great resources, for general use, are the New Geneva Study Bible, which should be obtained in its print version; and Easton's Bible Dictionary, which is available in an electronic version for free from Theophilos.sk, which interlinks it (through double-clicks on the words) with the words in the Bible, and in Strong's.

Of course, no resource (except the Bible itself) is infallible. For the Bible is so vast (some 4 MB, or 800,000 words), and contains so many details which cannot be pinned down by historians or linguists, that no individual or group of individuals could ever hope to exhaustively and perfectly explain every word and verse in the Bible. But this doesn't mean that we shouldn't be trying to continually improve our understanding of every detail of God's amazing Word (Matthew 4:4). Hopefully, we shall be granted an eternity to do so, and never be finished.
