Maintaining Your Focal Point

"The light of the body is the eye: therefore when thine eye is single, thy whole body also is full of light; but when thine eye is evil, thy body also is full of darkness." (Luke 11:34 NKJV)

Concentrating your energy and time on one most important thing will yield a plentiful harvest. The devil also knows this truth and uses it against us as Christians. He arranges events and activities that will scatter our energies in different directions. He is always striving to fill our lives with junks that are capable of distracting us.
But as Christians, what is that one thing we must focus on?
"Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus."
(Philippians 3:13‭-‬14 NKJV)
The first thing to do as pointed out by brother Paul is to forget the past. The devil employs our past a lot to distract us. Either failure or success must be set aside. But the enemy blows either of them out of proportion and wastes our energies. When we focus on our failures or successes of the past, they prevent us from focusing on the current task. The second thing to do is to focus on what is ahead of us. This is very important. The elders listed in Hebrews 11 focussed on the heavenly city. We must also focus on heaven and the kingdom thereof. This does not mean that we will become earthly irrelevant, but all our actions and inactions are guided by heavenly principles.

ACTION PLAN: Focus your attention on heaven and the kingdom principles. Live your life with that consciousness.

PRAYER: Father, help me to focus my attention on your kingdom and it's righteousness.
