God's Delight

"He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy." (Psalms 147:10-11)

It displeases God to see us depend on anything rather than Him. Our 'horses' and 'legs', though provided by God for our journey, must never be relied upon to bring us to our destinations. These 'horses' and 'legs' could be our intellects, careers, human connections, influences, competencies etc. We must never trust in them to accomplish God's purposes for our lives. This does not mean that we should discard them, the issue here is that we must not depend on them. What then should we depend on to fulfill His purpose?
God accelerates the journey of a man or woman that fear Him. It delights Him to see people take a stand for Him because of their love for Him. Our love for Him will make us to tremble at His words and obey them. The fear of God prevented Joseph from sleeping with Mrs Potiphar, and God did not fail to advance him in life.
Another disposition that bring pleasure to God is our total dependence on His mercy. He quickly moves in to help those who wait for His mercy. Jesus performed several miracles out of His compassion for people. It takes humility of heart to wait on God's mercy.

ACTION PLAN: Check your life and identify those factors you have been depending upon to take you to the next level. Are fear of God and His mercy on your list?

PRAYER: 1. Repent from depending on anything outside God for the fulfillment of His purpose in your life.
2. Ask for grace to fear Him and obey His instructions.
3. Ask Him to show you mercy and send all the help you need for your journey in life.
