Fear: The Killer Of Manifesting God's Gift

"For God did not give us a spirit of timidity (of cowardice, of craven and cringing and fawning fear), but [He has given us a spirit] of power and of love and of calm and well-balanced mind and discipline and self-control." (2 Timothy 1:7 AMPC)

One of the things that could bring fear is unconfessed sin. But after being born again, and you have confessed your sins to God and man (where necessary), any form of fear you still experience afterwards is never from God.
The scripture says "For God did not give us a spirit of timidity…" The first important truth here is that timidity or fear has a spirit. In the context of this scriptures, Paul was admonishing Timothy (he was born again, of course!) to stir up the gift of God in him (verse 6). Verse 7 was originally intended to address the issue that can stop Timothy (and even any Christian) from fanning to flame the gift of God: Spirit of fear! It will stop a man from becoming the best he can be in God and for God. Fear is a destroyer of trust in God and His gift.
The second truth to note from this part of the verse is that God is not the One that bestowed such spirit on people. The question now is "who gives the spirit of fear to people?"
"Since, therefore, [these His] children share in flesh and blood [in the physical nature of human beings], He [Himself] in a similar manner partook of the same [nature], that by [going through] death He might bring to nought and make of no effect him who had the power of death–that is, the devil– And also that He might deliver and completely set free all those who through the [haunting] fear of death were held in bondage throughout the whole course of their lives." (Hebrews 2:14‭-‬15 AMPC)
Through His death on the Cross of Calvary, Jesus brought to nothing the power of the devil who keeps people in bondage through fear of death. The devil himself was brought to nothing! Here, we can understand that fear is a weapon in the hand of the devil. He uses it to keep people in bondage. The greatest of all human fears is the fear of death. All forms of fear has been destroyed on the Cross of Calvary.

ACTION PLAN: Let us identify our fears today and bring them to the Man of Calvary.

PRAYER: Lord Jesus, You died on the Cross to set me free from fear, deliver me today.
