"So Jesus said to those Jews who had believed in Him, If you abide in My word [hold fast to My teachings and live in accordance with them], you are truly My disciples." (John 8:31 AMPC)
Jesus' teachings are the truth and life. We must hold fast to them. We must never allow them to slip out of our hands. Nothing in our lives should be allowed to take priority above them. Every philosophy, science and ideology that are contrary to them must be discarded. They must become our worldview; the pair of glasses with which we see and interprete everything in the world.
We must not only hold fast to these teachings of the Master, we must also live in accordance to them. They must become our lives' principles. We must obey them above anyone or anything else. We must commit ourselves to them in living and if need be in dying also. We must never allow ourselves to live contrary to them even in small measures.
Why must we hold fast to Jesus' teachings and unconditionally obey them? They are the truth, every other principles are subjective to them. Our Master's words are the absolute truth and anyone that believe and live by them can never go wrong.
"IN MANY separate revelations [each of which set forth a portion of the Truth] and in different ways God spoke of old to [our] forefathers in and by the prophets, [But] in the last of these days He has spoken to us in [the person of a] Son, Whom He appointed Heir and lawful Owner of all things, also by and through Whom He created the worlds and the reaches of space and the ages of time [He made, produced, built, operated, and arranged them in order]." (Hebrews 1:1-2 AMPC)
Our Master is the medium through which the Father is speaking to us in these last days.
ACTION PLAN: How has it been with us? What are the guiding principles of our lives? We need to scrutinize them and do away with those that are not found in Christ and hold tenaciously to the ones that grounded in Him.
PRAYER: Father, reveal those principles in my life that are contrary to Jesus' and help me to uproot them. Also, help me to steadfastly hold on to the ones that you have graciously revealed to me.
