Check Our Motives

Check Your Motives- No Hidden Searches With God
© "God Goggles"

17 For nothing is hidden that will not be made manifest, nor is anything secret that will not be known and come to light. Luke 8 ESV

Also see Hebrews 4:12 - A beautiful portrait of Christ's understanding.

15 Ah, you who hide deep from the Lord your counsel,
whose deeds are in the dark,
and who say, “Who sees us? Who knows us?”
16 You turn things upside down!
Shall the potter be regarded as the clay,
that the thing made should say of its maker,
“He did not make me”;
or the thing formed say of him who formed it,
“He has no understanding”?

Isaiah 29 ESV

Where God is concerned, nothing is hidden. He knows our hearts. I know that many of you have heard this before but I wanted to gently remind you. For me, once this book comes out, there won't be anything else hidden. You cannot all do this though. We live in a culture that loves our ambiguity and our privacy. I understand that. You need that. We all do. I'm being vulnerable because I could not figure out a way to teach you otherwise. I had to show you rather than tell you.

When wearing your God Goggles, be sure to Always check your motives. Being a lover of Christ is a heart condition change. Search your hearts as to why you are wanting to see and be closer to Jesus and His Supernatural Self. He knows. You need to know. Why? Because, satan can shift your motives without you ever recognizing it. It happens to me often. For instance, the other day I was driving and thinking about the book. satan had been taking us, our family, through an extremely personally financial rough time. I was driving and not paying attention to my thoughts like I should have. All of a sudden I saw myself fixating and looking at the large houses around me. The thought crossed my mind that if the book sold I might be able to afford one similar. I went on maybe fifteen minutes like this. The little thought grew and grew and before long I was planning on what color curtains I would have, what type of flooring, where the home would be, what I would do entertaining wise, how I would finally have my stables for kids with disabilities, how life would be good. Then, God gently reminded me I had let satan infiltrate my thoughts. Very subtly, he had helped to change my motives for writing this book. If I had not caught it, it could have stuck, then it could have spilled over into the premise of the project. It would have started a sin factor in my heart and then maybe even ruined the project. This is why it is important to check your motives. Yes, the opposition plants the seeds in our hearts but man, we run with it. We can absorb it and it can become our motive, not just satan's. So a constant conscientious check is a MUST.

GROUPTHINK

Are you doing this project with a friend or colleague, perhaps in a group setting? If so, have you considered the idea of "Group Think". In this idea, people are afraid to stand up and say what they really think due to peer pressure. When studying the project in a group of two or more, decide together to be honest and not hold ideas, grudges, consequences, or misgivings against another person for what they have seen, will see, will participate in, or how close they are or are not to God. Decide now to not judge. Remember, God sees our hearts and our motives.
