  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Many Illinoisans are upset about the taxation of Children's Memorial, but don't realize that the problem is systemic. Illinois currently has about $6M in tax revenue from Provena, because it accuses the hospital of not providing enough charity. Most politicians would look at the hospital see...

This blog, this body of work, is a dissertation. It's theology and philosophy. It's journalism and art. It's political science and history. It's education and sociology. It's law and statistics. To the college, apprenticeship replaces part of the way that the college collects profits, while...

I wonder what an apprenticed "master" should wear pompous ceremonies. I've only been around a few years now, so, I don't think I've earned the "slave" honorarium that Paul uses... I backed off of that one. How can one carry out a dialog with a Grand Ayatollah? First, you have to respect...

It's funny, in a way, some on the left are upset by an "apparent" motion to the left by Obama. However, if he's shrewd, he was already aware or quickly learned that one of the easiest things to sell in the public square is subsidiarity. It looks like anti-liberalism, but isn't that at all...

What's wrong with this thing? You can't figure out how to make it work in favor of the American people? Why not purchase a large number of fuel efficient new vehicles and give them away to people who trade in licensed old vehicles (with further regulations to ensure that the discounts and free...

It's typical for liberals to define what they are actually discussing. For instance, the "right to choose" (to kill the unborn). "To make their case" That's funny. Are they trying to prove the reality of their love? Or the equality of the institution of marriage with devoted gay...

I watched Colbert and Jon today. Colbert's guest says there's a lot of non-State influencing the interstate political system... He seems to be asserting it as if it is a new phenomenon, but, of course, it is just more developed, because of globalization. Jon tell children that they are more...

I had a dream a year or so ago that my "office" has a glass floor. I'm begining to understand the floor as more of a ceiling. I was uncomfortable with it at the time, but one gets more used to it as time passes. Nonetheless, I still desire to take on a role as breadwinner and let my wife...
