  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

An unconscionable conscience rule http://www.physorg.com/news149502881.html The Illinois Supreme Court just upheld the right of a Pharmacist to object to distributing abortifacients. The article lacks perspective, because abortions really aren't necessary for the health of the mother. Giving...

Joseph, a man who spent his life working, in what was not the first, nor would be the last baffling moment, finds himself building a fire in a stable-cave, to ensure that his newborn foster child doesn't die of cold, wondering at the fact that this manner of accommodations would have been...

I don't think that this article gave me enough information make its accusation of bigotry. Its the same song. The gay activist wants to take biological children out of marriage. Someone says 'no." And the gay activist gets really upset when all the reasons he believes that prove that we must...

It seems to me, that socialism has a peculiar failure that has to do with the necessity of over valuing basic services. At least from the capitalist perspective. For instance, it is apparent that in agriculture one needs to make the job prestigious and well paying enough to make it valuable...

The wretched accommodations of Jesus birth are particularly startling to the Christian, who seeks friendship with Him. ... The obvious ease with which ones temporal assistance... can... assist the Christ Child is immediately obvious.

I think that I would explore teaching Canon Law to Law School Professors and having them consider making an overview mandatory for law students, especially those considering legal writings. This would be particularly useful across most of the world were Catholics have a majority or significant...

Galileo and the surrounding events... How do you explain... When you put Galileo's imprisonment in the appropriate historical context, it doesn't make the imprisonment just, but it does have a lot to say about the development of human rights philosophy in the West. Not least of all the value...

A terrorist just got 20 years for assisting in the planned execution of 191 Spaniards. Of course, that was Morocco, but every little bit makes the largest Muslim majority countries look bad to some extent. And I'm not talking about that case specifically, so much as it and the pending...

It was part of an article that had been written differently. Nonetheless, they say the best way to not become pope is to campaign for the position. I don't know anything about consumerism. Most of our problems come from the excess stuff the people get us. We've decided to more toward more...

Political Science The Lion and the Mouse Cosmos Clockwork I'm having trouble putting this together. I guess, part of what I'm saying is that people seem to flock to a false ideal based on what virtues they personally value, and the belief becomes thoroughly ingrained in their philosophy. At...

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20081217/ap_on_re_mi_ea/ml_iraq_shoe_tosser Now, suppose that you interview this journalist character and find that he regrets his actions and won't do any such thing again. Then, it could be possible to consider the broken arm and smashed face to be a certain amount...

Most if not all the political science I see in secular university settings just reconfigures old legal philosophies and attempts to make them always work. The whole system is trapped within itself. Democrats typically say that they are the party of innovation, but its all about doing the same...

The Catholic Church earns its wealth by serving the Truth in Unity, which is possible only through adherence to Jesus Christ as passed on through time and present with us today. It is in this way that the Church proves itself. This requires collaboration between the lay and the ordained. They...

Unfortunately, on the change.gov site, I can't get a good definition of "women's health." It seems to me though, that its a blatant code for abortion services. I say this, because of the what it says about veterans care for women in particular. So, it seems that Obama's administration isn't...

Yes, I particularly liked the Juxtaposed Nativities after I considered it for a while. The gray canvas should have a particularly pompous frame. Very refined and intellectual.

Look at me a foooool with a BLOG! Humility can be like an acceptance of a certain degree of self violation, especially on behalf of others. "Forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us..." Some out there fail to see that sin is self injuring. They're like a man who...

Apparently, now that I've got your attention, I'm supposed to make myself unpopular. There is no doubt that the Bible, Tradition, and Magesterium declare sodomy to be a gravely evil act. So much so that it calls for the death penalty. Why? In today's world, we see that, rather than having...
