  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

Advent season is upon us, and I think I'm going to take a rest from screen time, especially regarding politics. Spending the time, rather, considering our Lord. Happy Thanksgiving to my US friends, and all those abroad who share gratitude for the goods that God graciously gives.

Protectionism It's an interesting term that indicates some sort of resistance to free market globalization. I don't think it's all bad or all good. Certainly we can be sure that globalization has assisted mankind in certain ways, but, at the same time it damages people and even leads to mass...

I wasn't sure how to use the the idea: "Sew in tears and reap but tragedy." I feel for those who have this experience in life. Perhaps it isn't fitting for me to phrase it for myself. This sort of thing happens often all across the world, and many people have this experience at some time in...

Praying for the community. This article reminds me of the US elections in which there was a Republican rout, of sorts. I would recommend that this article be considered. More practically, regarding the GOP, I would recommend that they seek to send their authority down the line as much as...

I do not support the status quo fairness doctrine. What is the point? The censor the right? The right is a defense of what is, which, essentially makes it have to defend itself against every radical or activist viewpoint, and that is ridiculous. Rather, I would prefer to see media be...

How long can it continue? To me the pressure of the truth seems to be relentlessly building. Lord Jesus Christ, help us to be forever faithful, to You, the Divine Word, that we not be made to stumble.

This peice could uses some work, but I'll probably just let it go at this (otherwise, I might find it to be work-like): I strongly disagree with hardliner Republicans on this one. The reason GM is faltering is that it has obligation to the retirement of its past workers, which impacts how...

Actually, I've been thinking, I see polemics as a defensive tool, not meant to thrill me or the other party with eloquence, but to enlighten the faithful. I got several compliments on my signature while they were there. I suppose that I see them, as a quick defensive tactic. I wouldn't expect...

It is interesting that so many people my age have these online footprints. So much so that almost everyone has one, especially among those younger than I am. So, yes, I take some risks, in front of everyone, and I might be wrong from time to time, but I trust in forgiveness, because no one is...

Getting an adequate amount back in a difficult peace treaty can be a tough deal. I think it'll do some damage, but its important to check what you can and strike were possible. Dangerous territory, I suppose. I'd like to see some moderate stand up together against their more radical...

I believe that I've stated before that I do use random readings when studying the Bible. And, I know that there are many people that do, probably even a large number among the clergy. The important guidance to give to people, to me, seems to be that people need to understand the basic context...

I am concerned about the African American communities, because the Gospel of Life doesn't seem to be being taught as clearly as it could be in that community. Because, I know that there are plenty of Jesus loving little old ladies there, but I wonder if they're spending enough time talking to...

Blood of the martyrs, Cry out for us! I though this was appropriate, because it pulls directly from Sacred Scripture. The view of the Orthodox, with a loving understanding, would be that we're crying out to St. Ignatius, and the so many unknown martyrs. Sacred Blood of Jesus, Save us! I...
