Everyone that desires ever burning fire of God's presence in their life must be wary of fire extinguishers. The devil prepared them at every junction in our life. Below is a list of some of these fire extinguishers, it is inexhaustible.
1. SIN: The devil introduces sin into a life in order to cripple that life and separate him from God. Once He turns His back on you, His fire goes out in your life. Are you beginning to entertain little compromise in your walk with God? Pay attention to your steps and quickly return to your Maker.
2. SELF: Self is the insider that open the door of your life to sin. Every aspect of self life you protect and pamper today will definitely give you away tomorrow. It will open the door to sin that will ravage your life. Check your life today and ask God to uproot every strand of Self you can identify.
3. SATAN: Satan, the accuser of the brethren is working over time to ensure that the fire of God in your life is quenched. He was defeated at the Cross for you. Submit yourself to God, resist the devil and he will flee from you.
4. LOVE FOR WORDLY PLEASURES: The world system is constantly parading it's pleasures before us as Christians. We must be on guard never to allow the lust for worldly things creep into our hearts.
5. PAST SUCCESSES OR FAILURES: Another fire extinguisher you need to be wary of are your past successes and failures. They have the tendency to becloud you judgement and drag you into the mud of spiritual coldness.
6. DISTRACTIONS: This is undoubtedly the most distracted generation. The enemy arranged many distractions on your path. These distractions are both internal and external. The Lord Himself will help you to guard your heart with all diligence.
7. STUNTED GROWTH: Lack of continuous growth have the capacity to quench the fire of God in your life. You must therefore seek to grow day by day. You must never be satisfied with your level of depth in God. You must continue to grow your root downward and your stem upward in Him.
8. BAD COMPANIES: Evil communication corrupt good manners. Maintaining friendship with people that are not passionate about God and His righteousness will eventually quench your own fire.
ACTION PLAN: You can use the list above as a guide to identify the fire extinguisher the enemy has positioned against your life. Your own may not even be included here, the Holy Spirit will help you identify and handle them if you ask Him.
