North Carolina police kill unarmed deaf, mute man using sign language

I'm trying to think of some reason they would shoot somebody, and i can't think of a single reason.
Target practice? Grins? They like sirens? WHY would a cop pull out his gun?

I'm trying to think of a reason why there are so many fforts put forth to rally an anti-cop manifesto.

Broad brush question referring to all cops?
I think if you Google headlines concerning public violence and also those violent acts committed against police you'll find your answer.

You know - my family and I traveled into China a long time ago - not too many years after the cultural revolution. It was pretty full on as far as communism goes - red banners, pictures of Mao everywhere, children singing revolutionary songs in school, soldiers in the streets, the whole bit.

And yet not once did anyone, including myself, think that we were in any danger of being shot and no-one had to tell us how to act if we were stopped by police or soldiers so as not to get shot - no rubbish about keeping your hands out of your pockets etc.

Even today, I'd feel more in danger of being shot by police in the US than in China

I don't feel threatened by police in America.

There is a provision in the Patriots Active that gives law enforcement agencies more leeway in appropriating "criminal " money and using it as department funds. So there has been an uptick in government seizures.

So, local police raided this poker game, they busted in with a SWAT team, fingers on triggers like this was some movie featuring 1920s mobsters playing poker in an underground casino and not a group of doctors just having fun.

And one of the cops "accidentally" shot and killed a podiatrist, right through the heart. Oppsy, my bad, so sorry...

There was an "investigation" and officer was cleared because it was an accident. Nevermind if I accidentally kill you I'm going to jail.

And this goes back to my point about police procedure. Why on Earth would police procedure ever allow for a Rambo SWAT team raid on a doctor's weekly poker game? It is 100% LEGAL to play poker for money in your house regardless of the amount or stakes. But the State decided to exploit a loophole in the Patriots Act so they could do some revenue generation a steal a few thousand from the citizenry and as a result a doctor was killed because of ridiculously over aggressive procedures.

But but but what if this was a crack house...

The thing is the same usual suspects in this microcosm calling this foul are some of the same ones who have been there since Trayvon calling it foul.

In othe words, despite what people say about how minorities care only when it is a black person being shot by white cops, it seems that these people in this microcosm have "wasted" the energy to protest this even KNOWING the victim was white, and cop was black. Why?

BECAUSE WRONG IS WRONG. I said in the Michael Brown thread this is a HUMAN ISSUE, not necessarily a racist one - since cops are BLUE. I got laughed down. Many other people said the same things - some the usual suspects.

Yet now, I don't even see the usual suspects who DEFEND cops actions like this speaking favorably, or providing sweeping apologies. Interesting.

In my observations the race issue arrives because of a pattern of behavior in reporting's all designed to further the divide between whites, blacks, and cops. A divide that pre-existed the radical racist divisive terrorist hate group Black Lives Matter and yet is inflated more by their agenda and that of their supporters.

The officer was poorly trained. That's a given. In my opinion there should be a car license plate designed and handed out in all States that allow deaf drivers on the road. One that alerts people the driver is hearing impaired. This should also be noted on the registration of their vehicle and their driving license in the event they rent a car and are pulled by police.

There are plates of all sorts here in the new State I've just recently relocated to. Everything from a Ducks Unlimited "DU" logo plate, to the handicap plate, to even the Purple Heart plate for wounded veterans. It is an injustice in my opinion that hearing impaired people are not represented also.
Perhaps the thing that will come out of this tragedy is that. A license plate , registration notation, drivers license notation, that protects the hearing impaired drivers among us from another tragedy like this.


Now, to the Martin and Brown references. Conflating them into this is decidedly unfair to the victim in this shooting.

Not unfair at all. All three cases the deceased were UNARMED, and the shooters were too inept to use less lethal force to even subdue the alleged assailants.

Again, all three cases had the deceased unarmed. The difference in the temporally former two was that instead of being deaf, they were black. That is why it was a big deal on here amongst apologizers of the police.

In this case a cop showed the same ineptitude and there is nowhere near the same apology for this cop. This thread should be 56 pages by now...

When they jumped into the thread, they were expecting the "agenda" because we all know it's wrong to want better, more competent police officers. What they came across was an inept cop, but it didn't fit their preconceived notion to attack the victim and stand up for the police officer. They can't make a five-page diatribe about black people being at fault due to "their culture," so rather than focus on the consistent "agenda" that policing in the United States needs reform, they attack an imaginary agenda based purely on race. Without the red herring of black-on-black crime or the absent black father myth how else can you mount an argument defending police department no matter the case? It did make major headlines, people need to stop making arguments about the media not covering stories, when every outlet covered it, your ignorance is not an argument.

Additionally, riots are related to underlying issues that have little to do with the event that sparked it. No riots would occur if police did not routinely brutalize a population. Even if an officer's actions are completely justified, a history of violating the Constitutional rights of a population will result in civil unrest.

Because people think they know this was an accident since the person was white who was shot.

People know white lives matter; they don't need to organize a movement to get people to understand that. There isn't a history of cops literally killing white people on camera, and getting away with it completely free. That isn't a culture among white persons encountering cops.

Also, people assume cops will use less lethal force on white assailants, and are fine with that. I have seen white people literally beat up cops with weapons only to somehow miraculously be reapprehended without the use of lethal force. Old and young.

That doesn't happen with minorities. This thread is nowhere near as long as it should be because there is no demon to attack. On one hand, we have the cop who can do little no wrong, or are justified 99% of the time, and on the other hand you have a deaf white person. Who could possibly be the demon to attack and say deserved whatever? Begrudgingly, some may say the cop, but I would guess because of who the cop was. Otherwise, there is the problem of a vast majority of (near) unconditional cop supporters from these forums looking like hypocrites if they try to defend either side.

It is very simple social politics.


Most all of the usual suspects who have admonished ineptitude of police, and their brutality have been consistent in that they acknowledge that it is a racial aspect, but also a very serious POLICE problem. I am not going to call them out because I didn't ask, but they know who they are, and likely so do you. You can tell who they are by their passion for JUSTICE, not race.

I gave that explanation because I know you weren't insinuating minorities riot, while white people don't when things like this happen. I KNOW that wasn't your intention. This isn't a media slant either. Remember the people and majority determine the media output... ratings and all.

A lot of cops like the power of drawing a gun. It is very intimidating, it is God like power. Problem is, once you draw the gun, the entire situation changes, you've now escalated a trivial situation into a life threatening one.

There is a case where a group of doctors held a weekly poker game. Table stakes were a few thousands and they played this weekly game without incident until passage of the Patriots Act. There is a provision in the Patriots Active that gives law enforcement agencies more leeway in appropriating "criminal " money and using it as department funds. So there has been an uptick in government seizures.

So, local police raided this poker game, they busted in with a SWAT team, fingers on triggers like this was some movie featuring 1920s mobsters playing poker in an underground casino and not a group of doctors just having fun.

And one of the cops "accidentally" shot and killed a podiatrist, right through the heart. Oppsy, my bad, so sorry...

There was an "investigation" and officer was cleared because it was an accident. Nevermind if I accidentally kill you I'm going to jail.

And this goes back to my point about police procedure. Why on Earth would police procedure ever allow for a Rambo SWAT team raid on a doctor's weekly poker game? It is 100% LEGAL to play poker for money in your house regardless of the amount or stakes. But the State decided to exploit a loophole in the Patriots Act so they could do some revenue generation a steal a few thousand from the citizenry and as a result a doctor was killed because of ridiculously over aggressive procedures.
