Private Autopsy Shows Deputies Shot Andrew Brown Jr. 5 Times
Lawyers for the family of Andrew Brown Jr., a Black man who was shot and killed by sheriff’s deputies in coastal North Carolina last week, said Tuesday that a private autopsy paid for by Mr. Brown’s family showed that he was hit by five bullets and killed by a shot to the head.

During a Tuesday morning news conference, one of the lawyers, Wayne Kendall, said that an independent pathologist noted four wounds to Mr. Brown's right arm and one to the back of his head. Mr. Brown was shot Wednesday in Elizabeth City by deputies serving drug-related search and arrest warrants, the authorities have said.
We'll have to see how the investigation plays out, but if they shot a man driving away, that is a problem. It does not matter if he had committed a crime, you don't shoot someone because they are running from law enforcement. Of course, it is best to wait for more information before making any real pronouncements.

Some people are going to question why the SWAT team as mentioned in your article was considered necessary. Andrew Brown Jr. – a Black man fatally shot as sheriff's deputies executed a warrant in Elizabeth City, N.C., on April 21 – was described as a drug dealer in the Pasquotank County area and had a criminal rap sheet over 180 pages long and dating back to May 1988, according to a copy of the search warrant and other records obtained by Fox News. N.C. Judge Delays Public Release Of Bodycam Footage Of Andrew Brown Jr.'s Death
A judge in North Carolina ordered law enforcement body camera footage of the death of Andrew Brown Jr. disclosed to his family, but not released to the public until completion of a state investigation into Brown's death.

Judge Jeffrey Foster ordered the videos disclosed to Brown's family within 10 days.

Brown was shot and killed by Pasquotank County, N.C., sheriff's deputies last week, less than 24 hours after Derek Chauvin, the former Minneapolis police officer, was convicted of murdering George Floyd.

From the article:
"The next movement of the car is forward, it is in the direction of law enforcement, and makes contact with law enforcement. It is then and only then that you hear shots," the district attorney said.
That sounds much more like self defense than the "execution" that family attorney Chantel Cherry-Lassiter told reporters. I note the judge has also cautioned the attorneys about making comments that might prejudice a jury.
