CV NEWS FEED // Billionaire Meta Platforms Inc. (“Meta”) CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced that Facebook and Instagram will replace their “fact-checks” with a community notes system in an effort to “restore free expression.”

“It’s time to get back to our roots around free expression on Facebook and Instagram,” Zuckerberg said in a five-minute video message Tuesday.

“We’re going to get rid of fact-checkers and replace them with community notes,” he indicated. He admitted later in the video that Meta’s fact-checkers “have been too politically biased.”

Meta’s new system will be “similar” to the popular user-driven service employed by his company’s major competitor, X (formerly Twitter), Zuckerberg said.

He also specified that Meta platforms will remove restrictions on discussions regarding “gender” and other controversial political topics.

“I started building social media to give people a voice,” the tech mogul said during the video. “I gave a speech at Georgetown five years ago about the importance of protecting free expression, and I still believe this today.”

Did you guys watch/listen to Zuck on Rogan yesterday? He went into detail about how the Biden Admin would contact his employees and scream, curse, and yell at them to take things down, to censor, dictating what they could allow. He goes into detail what what they did during COVID especially. At first Facebook wouldn't take down or censor such content, but then they Biden Admin started to threaten them and went after their businesses. That's when Facebook caved. As suspected: no more Biden Admin lunatics, so he's immediately stopping all of the censorship.

(sigh) Facebook just suspended me for three days (again) for a cute picture I posted FOUR YEARS AGO. They suspended me for three days back in November for the same picture, telling me they had taken it down so nobody could see it, since it was so insensitive. So I figured, okay, the problem is taken care of; they took the picture down.

Not so, apparently. Now they're threatening to revoke my account over this stupid picture. I wrote them a letter in their little feedback thingie and told them I would be happy to remove the cotton-pickin' picture, if they would tell me HOW. But as we all know, Facebook is not exactly the most user-friendly platform when it comes to trying to find past posts.

Whatever. They'll do whatever they're going to do, I guess. Today I lack the intestinal fortitude to get too worked up about it.....the weather outside is frightful and getting worse by the minute, the pain in my back is at a high shriek, and I'm experiencing a nasty sugar drop because I haven't eaten much today; hands are trembling like leaves in a high wind.

Just wait until the new system goes into effect. Zuck said it's going to take a little time. They had to do a lot to appease the Biden Admin so they would stop calling and screaming and threatening and going after their businesses. Can't believe I'm defending Zuckerberg or a social media company. But I actually believe him, and evidence is publicly available with emails from Biden Admin officials documenting exactly what he's alleging. Same as Trump coming into office. He's been continuously warning that changes won't be fast and will take time. A lot of damage has been done. As for Zuck, he's moving some operations out of Cali to Texas as part of their new initiative to get rid of censorship. He hasn't even done that yet.
