A zombie outbreak has hit your city and you have to leave your house suddenly. What would you bring? Personal memorabilia, food, etc etc. And what kind of weapon would you use???

haha, but you can always try to make a run for it...I personally do not want to end up as a zombie or as a zombie meal. I don't care how tasty my brains are

All you have to do is wait them out. Their bodies will decompose to the point of uselessness before a good shelter will run out of food.

I'd bring pictures, non perishable food items, an entire chain mail outfit (they can't bite through that), a cross bow (with some explosive tip arrows, Rambo 2 style), the rapid fire shotgun from The Expendables, various land mines, and those guns from Aliens that are set by computer to fire upon sight of the zombies.

After they break into my chosen fortress (most likely due to poor writing), I would blow the place up, taking as many as I could with me.

Granted, if I were a Jedi (a-la The Force Unleashed), none of this would be necessary, but that's not doable.

I have some experience with the undead already (they're fans of Insane Clown Posse) so I think I'd be alright.

Lock down my house to protect my family and journey out as needed with several layers of clothing on to get more food. I would probably use bludgeoning weapons to fend off zombies in the area.

As a side note, I have the government issued zombie survival poster with lots of tips, so I've got a plan set up.

I hate these Mega64 videos....they film these actually really really close to where I live in San Diego, and it kinda ruins the whole "the video games are real!" vibe when you know where they are filming it.

Sometimes I'm kinda shocked that I never ran into these people in person, especially since I was definitely living in San Diego (in the area where these are all filmed, especially) all the time during when they first started making these.

Colt Commander in .38 Super and some sort of semi-auto carbine.

I'd like to avoid getting close enough for melee weapons, and there will be the living to deal with as well. I'd probably carry a machete or the like too though.

Modern armor would be better. I might grab a pole arm or mace if I stumble on a Ren Faire or something though.

The first thing I would do is find out where people are and if they're moving at all. The cell towers are going to get full very quickly. (I seem to remember that happening on 9/11.) I'd keep Katie's pic and maybe my laptop until the power and internet grid went down. I'd also keep my camera for record keeping. I'd load up all of my ammo and firearms (Glock 19, CZ-75, Springfield XD-9 and a Walther P22 currently). I'd also grab my hatchet, a golf club or two and a cricket bat. There are three gun shops in my area. I'd work to get to at least one of them. Second, I'd find a place that is normally abandoned by people - my city just shut down an airport a couple of years ago. This would be my operations HQ until I got my living family and friends to the high country. Then, I'd learn to hotwire a vehicle - google and then I'd go learn it immediately by practice. Martial law would be in effect and things would be defended with deadly force. I'd try to find a vehicle that was newer as they are faster and I'd make a wal mart run. Food and firearms first and then I'd start working to get my people.

I would keep this Homeland Security Alert handy so I would know just how dangerous things were at any given moment.

You're probably going to need to defend that airport, or your corner of it, from other refugees if not zombies. I wouldn't count on being the only one with that idea. You might want a long gun of some sort for that.

Do you have a want list for those gun stores, or just looking to grab whatever grabs your attention when you get there?

I'd try to find a vehicle that was newer as they are faster and I'd make a wal mart run.

I'd be more concerned with 4 wheel drive and the ability to go over/around obstacles than speed. There's going to be a lot of cars and/or debris on the roads, and someone can pop the curb or go offroad with an SUV or truck while your fast car is stuck.
