  • CF has always been a site that welcomes people from different backgrounds and beliefs to participate in discussion and even debate. That is the nature of its ministry. In view of recent events emotions are running very high. We need to remind people of some basic principles in debating on this site. We need to be civil when we express differences in opinion. No personal attacks. Avoid you, your statements. Don't characterize an entire political party with comparisons to Fascism or Communism or other extreme movements that committed atrocities. CF is not the place for broad brush or blanket statements about groups and political parties. Put the broad brushes and blankets away when you come to CF, better yet, put them in the incinerator. Debate had no place for them. We need to remember that people that commit acts of violence represent themselves or a small extreme faction.

*** Zionism and Mashiach

Contrary to popular concept, one does not have to be Jewish to be a Zionist. A Zionist is anyone who believes that G-d gave the land of Israel to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob and their descendants forever. "Forever" includes today!

Zion is the city of the great King: The references in Scripture to Zion and Jerusalem are to be taken literally as the context may indicate, though they may also be spiritualized since they are a type of His heavenly abode. Those, therefore, who speak against Zion, speak both against G-d's earthly and heavenly city. The problem with Zionism today is the ignorance of Bible believers of the nearly 1,000 Scriptures where G-d is calling the Jewish people from every corners of the earth to Zion (Israel), such as the following: "And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of HaShem's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it. (not to Palestine) Yeshayahu 2:2 "And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of HaShem, to the house of the G-d of Jacob; and He will teach us of His ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the Torah, and the word of HaShem from Jerusalem. Yeshayahu 2:3

Coming world redemption through Mashiach, peace and prosperity from Zion. "For Zion's sake will I not hold my peace, and for Jerusalem's sake I will not rest, until the righteousness thereof go forth as brightness, and the salvation thereof as a lamp that burneth." "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that brings good tidings [Mashiach's work] of good, that publishes salvation; that saith unto Zion, Your G-d reigneth!" Yeshayahu 52:7

"HaShem will reign forever; your G-d, O Zion, to all generations. Praise HaShem! " (Tehillim / Psalm 146:10).

Mevaser, I appreciate the sentiment of your post! I would amend it only slightly:
A Zionist is anyone who believes that Israel has the right to exist. Even secular folks like my lovely spouse believes that the State of Israel has a right to exist. Even on secular grounds, the Nation of Israel was re-created in 1948 and is a valid legal entity just as Jordan (another "created" nation) is.
I think Zion has a right to exist; I am a Zionist.
