Firstly thanx Kaz for posting for me!
And here is Ezekiel's birth story...
I woke up to my first contraction at 3.30am on the 25th of august, 5 torturous days after my due date. I had been having painful braxton hicks contractions on and off for 6 days so i was getting pretty annoyed! When the contractions kept coming every 10mins keeping me awake I figured that maybe this time they were going somewhere. We hadn't been sleeping too well anyway, Ruth (my DD - 2yrs old) included, so we all got up. I had a shower and threw up my tea, and after 2 hours of 10 min contractions they started coming every 6-7mins so we called the in-laws to babysit and called the hospital to say we were coming.
We got to the hospital about 7am, contractions still about 6-7mins apart, they checked me at 7.30 and I was 4cm. Labour went pretty normally from there, I had a shower for about an hour, Then decided I better get out because the contractions were coming on top of each other and I had felt him move lower. I had a bit of gas to help through transition. I delivered at 10.44am, after 39mins of pushing - and praise God NO STITCHES!!
Then things went a bit wrong... unfortunately the placenta was being stubborn and didn't want to come out, so while my husband was taking our son for some oxygen (he was a bit mucousy) they tried every trick they knew to try and get the placenta out, then the midwives called a doctor in, they tried to pull on the cord a little bit to help it and a piece of placenta broke off with the cord, but the rest was stuck inside. So then I had to have a nice trip up to theatre for a 'manual removal'. Thankfully they let me have a cuddle and feed while they were trying to put the needle for the IV in my arm. I had to have a catheter and a spinal tap - which actually didn't hurt at all and wasn't anywhere near as bad as I feared - and I felt very dignified
as they got the placenta out. Still no stitches though! They said that it looked like tha placenta had a 'lobe' and that the cord was attatched in a strange way and thats why it wouldn't come out.
Finally I was allowed out of recovery and wheeled into a ward and my husband and new son came to be with me, we all stayed there untill I was stable enough to walk when we moved back to the birth centre which was great because my husband could stay overnight with us. We planned to go home the next day, and the doctor said that would be fine, until the next day when they said I had to stay another day for protocol and observation - I asked what they would be doing and the answer was basically just taking my temperature and starting me on antibiotics, I told them I could do that myself and I was going home, so I discharged myself. My husband stayed home with me the first week and our son is just beautiful!! We are both very healthy now too!
So thats my story, hope you enjoyed it! As dramatic as it sounds, it really wasn't too bad and overall a very positive experience for me.

Oh, I forgot to add that he came out with his arms crossed across his chest and on his shoulders, so the head wasn't the hard part to push out!!
