*sigh* no one gets my jokes.

I'm so sorry Brian. I know what it's like when humour bombs out.

Never mind. Keep practising.

You'll be funny one day.

The letters should really be named according to the Nato phonetic alphabet - you know, Alpha, Bravo, Charlie, etc.

The normal letter names can easily be confused with one another, so why not just give them easily differentiated names from the get-go. Zulu is a much better named for Zed, though perhaps a bit culturally insensitive in today's climate.

The Interwebs never cease to amaze.

The Alphabet Song even has its own Wikipedia entry. For those of you who have never left the shores of the United States, note that the article also talks about 'Zee' being a strictly US pronunciation of Z.

The ABC song is the same as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Baa Baa Blacksheep. The original music is by Mozart (I kid you not). :)

USAnian, so zee of course. I will allow that since Shaun (of Shaun of the Dead) was a bit squeamish about using "the zed word", I will occasionally refer to unpleasant things like zombies or my nephew Zachary as "the zed word".

Speaking of the zed word... it might be time to buy more of Jim Bakker's food buckets.

Jim Bakker Is Now Using His End Times Broadcast to Warn About Zombies

“Zombies that are on the Earth are a disease like any other disease that affects people, and they become like zombies. Is that right?” Bakker asked.

“That’s only part of the story,” Quayle replied. “Zombies also have the evil spiritual entity known as demon possession.”

“The best way to explain zombies’ blood lust is this: the appetite of demons expressed through humans,” Quayle continued. “It should be astonishing to people that the richest people in the world—not all of them but some of them—are into occult ceremonies where they have to drink blood that’s extracted from a tortured child. Now that’s sick, but that’s the appetite of demons expressed through humans.”

“They can induce zombieism, at least the appetite for human flesh,” he added.

Jim Bakker Is Now Using His End Times Broadcast to Warn About Zombies

Jim Bakker on people mocking his End Times survival food buckets: ‘I believe they’re Satanic’

On his most recent show, Bakker was baffled as to how people think his food buckets are funny, so much so that he avoids social media.

“It’s so bad,” he said, adding that he recently went on social media just to see how people were reacting to his product. “There’s people who hate my guts. There are people who want to destroy us. … And one of the biggest onslaughts is this,” he said while holding up a food bucket. “One of the biggest things they make fun of me about is the food buckets. I mean, I couldn’t believe it. They have whole websites, laughing, mocking … and I’m just telling you, I believe it’s Satanic.”

It's a fair cop. Guilty as charged.

I believe he meant "zatanic".

I was born and grew up in Canada, but I now live in the USA. Since the question asked about the "English" alphabet, and not the "American English" alphabet, I voted zed. However the ABC song on Sesame Street does rhyme better with the American version.

Zed.

That’s the original, but Americans changed it.

So Zed is correct.

We didn't change it. We gave it freedom. We took the alphabet and made it into freedom letters. A is for Merica, E is for Eagle, F is for Freedom, and G is for Guns, and P is for Patriotism, and Z is for Zee.
